He sounded a little more annoyed than I've seen him before. Don't think he was thrilled with there performance. He mostly says positives like usual, but his tone and body language.
that's good, he needs to have a talk with Goff. His QB didn't play at a high level today. The plays were there, we just didn't execute. Hopefully McVay stops using Brown so much and Akers gets healthy fast

Because his side of the ball struggled and he knows that was on him for the playcalling. He mentions several times they couldn't get in a rhythm which is his responsibility. Goff and Kupp bailed him out with the long TD. He's going to have to go in and figure things out going forward and we have a good team to get that back next week going against Washington.

I'm not entirely sure this was on goff though. He completed like over 80% of his passes lol and one was dropped. Everetts fumble changed momentum. In all honest goof might have checked down a couple of times late or when he shouldn't of but to me this would be more on the offensive play calling and adjustments. The Giants have crap linebackers and a poor secondary and no jabril peppers they were obviously shutting down the outside and screens by design. So my question is how do you not attack the middle of the field with your tight ends? Or recievers?

Kupps td might have been labeled a blown coverage but to me it could also be that because of the non adjustments they were once again banking on or leaning a bit towards the side line plays and goff went over the middle and the Giants paid.

Then I stated this earlier if goff is your 140 million dollar guy and we have all this faith and he is elite how do you go 3 and out in that last offensive drive. That's shows either to cute, to predictable or he doesn't have that trust in goff. It's hard for goff to get to that next level if he is always held back. That goes for the redzone too, like how often for example are the Rams 20 to 10 yard region like and instead of taking shots at the endzone we try to matriculate the ball to like the 2 yard line to be safe. Something is a miss McVay likes goff yes but I'm not entirely sure he trusts him completely or sees him in the upper echelon of the super star qb's. How many times have we seen other qb's who are stars or super stars put the game away because the coach has trust? Maybe he he covering for the offensive line maybe he thinks they aren't good enough. But that Kupp run on the final drive had me red in the face.

After first watch thru my take is drives were stalled by:
1. Great coverage
2. Predictable playcalling getting snuffed out. Sreens, reverses and quick outs are getting predictable again.
3. Conservative play calling and personnel. Use of Brown, Everett and Reynolds by design seemed intended to keep Starters safe.
4. Everett fumble
5. Too much use of Malcom Brown on third down passes.

Malcom Brown was given the ball twice on third down with a man to beat to get the first down but he was unable to make a man miss or power through it. This stalled drives. Watch other games and better players can commonly pick up those few yards for the first down.

Goff had 1TD, 0 interceptions and a 103 rating, I think his performance was just fine
While that may be true it's hard to deny he could have done better. We fans don't know the play calls we don't know what he's asked to do. But the offense could have been more and he's the leader of the offense.

I will have to watch again, but it seemed the giants had a good D gameplan to string the jet sweeps and screens to the sideline. Not letting the ball carrier turn up field and they plugged the middle for most of the game. The whiners D speed will do the same thing, we need to get more movement up the middle to spring Hendo.

I hope he wasn’t thrilled with it.:p

I was surprised by the light use of Hendo. He’s been tearing up the league, and today.....eight carries?? Did McVay make a statistical decision based on analytics? I praised McVay for staying consistent with the run game, but today we looked bland and listless. Hard to know what’s in the coach’s decision making process. Maybe Hendo was dinged up, and coach wanted to give him less carries to heal up. At least we won the ballgame, but this felt like a game from 2019.

This play call annoyed me.

This graphic reads from bottom up...

2nd QTR.... 2nd and 1 from the NYG 16... we should have took a shot. Instead we ran Brown.

I love our lean upon the run and don’t want to change that. I might have preferred a more aggressive call here, tho.

This drive ended with FG.

''I thought their defense played really well and should get a lot more credit than they have been,'' Goff said on his postgame Zoom with reporters. ''You guys seem awfully upset about us winning, so I'm trying to keep the mood up in here.''

seems like the press were rather negative in their queries.

Most of predicted a lot of points scored against the Giants.
I imagine McVay and the players felt good going in to this one, but it was a sluggish game reminiscent of last season.
If coach wasn't slightly pissed off I would be disappointed.

I only watched thru Redzone and ESPN Gamecast but the rhythm of the offense was off after the first drive. It also seemed very conservative. On defense it looks like we are soft over the middle on passing plays. Tighten both up and it would have been a different game.

thats interesting ....Goff in college i think only threw just a few redzone int's....maybe they did not let him throw there either....he has always had very low redzone int's......but i guess if u never attempt any....

Part of me wonders if he was keeping stuff close to the vest. Basically going vanilla on purpose as he expected a simple game plan would be enough to win this game.....which it was..... Barely. Maybe also why we didn't use Hendo much? Ugly win is still a W.
