All the Tavon Austin comparisons, if Tutu has a 9+ year career (Tavon is still playing) then we'll probably get something out of him at least, so could be worse.

I've said it before, I wish that when the Rams receive a kick into the endzone they would just take a knee. Put Kupp back there and just let him fair catch every punt. Every time they return one there always seems to be a flag and they end up with worst field position. Tell me the last time the Rams scored on a punt or kick return.
Has there been anyone since Pharoh Cooper?

Austin has never done shit in this league to justify being a first round pick.

He’s got 6 catches for 62 yards this year. He’s had as many 500 yards once in his career.

If that’s your standard you might want to set the bar a little higher.

I don't think we are on the same page here. I am talking about fans who make statements about players who only have a few games behind them and the fans declare them a bust.

We didn't know if Tavon was a bum until about year two. No matter how hard you want people on your TuTu is a bum bandwagon, it doesn't change the fact we don't know yet.

I think all of us understand the lack of production CGI given our WR depth chart. Dont think thats the problem. But he's made zero impact on special teams which is a weakness right now. Our return game is horrible, among the worst in the NFL. And on top of that McVay comes out and says he needs more urgency? People that lack work ethic dont seem to fit with McVay so his comments yesterday have to be eye opening.

Yeah. Even though that wasn’t his forte coming out, I was hoping he’d be contributing as a returner.

I’m not sure on the McVay quote. But he also doesn’t make many mistakes in speaking.

McVay’s been giving him some of that shitty looking Campbells soup.
That commercial cracks me up. What a geek. Lol. All serious and scowling. Ha ha.

My gut says the comment is mostly if not entirely directed at his special teams return habits.
Atwell was in on returns and is missing as of late, if it was purely receiving habits I don't think he would be removed from ST duties necessarily.

Yes we don't know yet, but it doesn't look good so far. Still TBD

Man Rondale Moore would looks amazing in horns right about now. He'd be our KR/PR immediately and could totally be used as a weapon out of backfield or passes. Instead we got Tutu.... Taking almost anyone that was drafted after him would have contributed more.

KR/PR yes. He'd make a very minimal impact there, but sure.

Weapon out of the backfield? Doubtful. He'd likely not see the field. He's not better than Kupp/Woods/Hendo all of whom we use as weapons out of the backfield.

Dude is averaging 11 yards per catch. Not exactly explosive, especially considering that he's the fourth option at best so defenses aren't even keying on him.

I take McVay's comments to be an effort to motivate Atwell, rather than an expression of doubt regarding his abilities.

McVay couldn't get enough touches for a guy whose game he clearly respects, he's dealing with a hungry Robert Woods, and still needs to get his backs more involved. So should we expect to see Atwell out there getting what Jackson couldn't?

No. Of course not. I think McVay is just speaking of the circumstances Atwell is in.
Guys, we've had some serious technicians of the WR craft here for years. What is expected of them, how much nuance.... there's just so much more than being able to get deep and run under footballs. I'm pretty sure his learning curve is massive. Even Jefferson entered the league as a polished NFL caliber WR. Atwell as small rookie and at the bottom of the room has to feel like he's in over his head. Give it time.

The Rams have 4 receiving options who should never leave the field. When we go empty, Jackson gets his shots. Or in some cases Henderson is out wide. I don't know if there's ever been another team with the complete WRs we have if you take into consideration hands, route running AND blocking. Having said that, if/when Tutu sees the field do we really want a 5'6" 170 lb receiver blocking?

Tutu can't win.

He's finally gained weight, but now he's shorter.:laugh1:

BTW, the weight gain could also be what McVay was talking about.

That's why Torry Holt belongs in Canton and deserves his own chapter in the Book Of Rams while Tutu Atwell is a mid-round pick type who may or may not end up as a footnote, let alone a sentence or paragraph...

Good thing you were kidding and not actually comparing "Big Game" Torry Holt to "Little Play" TuTu Atwell ;)

So you used blue font and said "good thing you were kidding..." Does this mean I was not kidding?
