The longer this drags the more it feels like a trade is gonna happen.

Gosh, Golly ... I sure hope not ... and if Stafford is traded ... Mother-Fucker!!!

It is still early for teams to get things in order in preparation for the 2025 League Year which starts in about a month. There are about ten teams currently Over the 2025 salary cap. All will need to make moves (restructures and/or releases) to get under the cap by mid-March.

Also, I have read about very few cap-related moves thus far.

I get this feeling that McVay loves Jimmy Garoppolo and for some odd reason and it's just a gut feeling I believe Stafford will be a New York football Giant. I base that off of nothing besides just a gut feeling and this report on the hiring of Kelly's brother, hoping I am wrong.

There is also a family connection for Stafford in New York now. ESPN reported Monday that the Giants are hiring former Jacksonville Jaguars assistant Chad Hall to be their new assistant quarterbacks coach. Hall is the brother of Stafford's wife, Kelly. If we get to the point where the Rams decide to trade Stafford, he would have a say in his destination. Hall's hiring probably makes the Giants a more attractive landing spot for the Stafford family.

Seriously though, I think the Chad Hall connection is weak.
Hall was the Bills' WR-coach when Brian Daboll was the Bills' Offensive Coordinator.
Hall was on the Jaguars' staff last year; and was out of a job once Doug Pederson was let go.
That's the only connection I consider relevant.

I just can’t figure out what team. I just have a hard time believing Stafford would want to play for NYG or Pittsburgh. Both have terrible offensive lines and coaching staffs that could be on their way out. Both play in a ton of cold weather games too. The *only* situation I could see Stafford being open to would be Minnesota.
I think Pittsburgh would interest him. Winning culture that just needs a QB... but it is a tough conference to get to the SB.

What I find funny is that he may not be happy about Kupp leaving, but he doesn't appear to want to take a significant discount to prevent a move like that from happening.

True and it might be weak, but until they put this to bed it will still be an issue and I could see the Stafford's wanting to go and experience New York. Also Garoppolo throwing for 334 yards the most passing yards in 2024 plus doing that with backup OL & WR's has me thinking McVay thinks he has found something.

This goes back to something I've said in other threads... I know the OP is about Stafford but not everything is on him.
I don't think LaFleur is all that & a bag of chips. I think that's one change McVay needs to make. He's had the OC reins for 2 years, and we've been sub-par on offense for both seasons. We have red-zone issues, and those have never really been resolved.
Honestly, watching Stafford rip down the field twice in under 4 minutes, in PHI, in the snow, we know that he's not the problem. Nor Puka, nor Kupp. Where was all this production all year? I'd love to know who was calling the shots when BUF came to town.
Yes, I am also wondering about LaFleur and the offensive production issues. Yes we have played and won games, but not like it was the first few years. We should be averaging 24 + points a game min. It's in there, somehow it's just not getting out. Start at game plan and play calling, then oline, rb, receivers and of course QB are good indicators to stiffle an offense, but we have those pieces mostly. Time for a change at oc?

FYi - last year they didn't get this worked out until training camp.
Last year the cap hit was way too high to even consider him moving on. This year is quite different. It's steep, but doable.

I doubt we've even sent him a contract proposal yet too

People want an answer now but it's a process

He wanted more money last year and re-negotiated.

Guess what is going on right now or what is going to happen soon

I bet you can figure it out!

Thats not true, and not what happened. He couldnt have been cut/traded last year, it wasnt feasible, therefore they had time to work things out. This year is entirely different, and things can and should happen much quicker

What didn't happen last year?.... last year he asked for his contract to be changed - he is doing it again this year (allegedly).

McVay even said "We want clarity sooner than last year" or something along those lines. So McVay thinks it's similar.

So yeah some differences but also a lot the same as well.

Cowherd predicting we trade Stafford to the Giants for #3 and sign Rodgers for a 2 year rental and draft a qb next year.
