This goes back to something I've said in other threads... I know the OP is about Stafford but not everything is on him.
I don't think LaFleur is all that & a bag of chips. I think that's one change McVay needs to make. He's had the OC reins for 2 years, and we've been sub-par on offense for both seasons. We have red-zone issues, and those have never really been resolved.
Honestly, watching Stafford rip down the field twice in under 4 minutes, in PHI, in the snow, we know that he's not the problem. Nor Puka, nor Kupp. Where was all this production all year? I'd love to know who was calling the shots when BUF came to town.
The Rams offense last year was sub-par?

I know but what do the Giants have that we want? if this goes badly I believe it will mean people will be fired.
I think trading Kupp and stafford will get people fired. Of course I get my head ripped off for that. Keep them and we keep the window open 2-3 more years and if they retire then, so be it.

Well, there's not a great one this year, Bob! (Unless the Rams spend all their cap on a guy like Higgins)

But seriously, I think you try to hit on the TE, especially one that can iso out wide and use the size there to beat man and hope that you can find a speed guy at WR (maybe a size guy otherwise) that is developmental but can allow you to hit some occasional plays deep or on crossers and try to find a superior pass catching back in the draft.
And there is the dilemma. Maybe there aren't enough surefire paths to upgrade the offense.

From where I sit, if you're paying $50m to bring back Stafford, you're trying to win it all in 2025 and 2026. You force yourself to possibly spend money on legit upgrades. If you're not going to spend the coin to actually upgrade the offense (and defense), why spend the money to bring Stafford back?

If you're not willing to strongly commit to the short term, move Stafford and build for the future.

Going the TE route to upgrade has it's own risks. Namely, the TE position is one that doesn't always translate to the NFL immediately.

I think we'd prob be around .500 with Jimmy G.

What do you think is a reasonable assumption with him at QB?
I agree with the .500 to start but to truly guess without knowing who'd we be able to pick up FA wise if we have more future CAP because of moving on from Stafford isn't wise to me.

We have Stafford, Kupp, Nacua, Kyren! That line up got 10 wins. You think Puka, JW, D-rob, Kyren and Jimmy is better and going to be near that in wins is mistaken! That line up minus Jimmy is well under .500 With Stafford. How is that Laughable? We only won and got out of a combined record of 2-7 in last 2 years WHEN KUPP RETURNED. Think about it. We struggled to get 10 with everyone back. When Puka is on the Field with no Kupp we avg 14 Pts a Game. With Kupp is near 24. We have a losing Record without Kupp.
It's laughable because we have a top notch head coach. You also seem to act like you know the Rams wouldn't sign anyone of significance during FA. What if the Rams hit on their draft picks again? Too many damn variables to act like anyone would truly know how that type of team will fare. Talk about panicking way too soon lmao

It all depends. If we stay relatively healthy, I think we're capable of making the playoffs due to the defense. Watching our offense in Week 18 with Jimmy, I think McVay can produce at least a middle of the pack offense with Jimmy at QB, as long as our offense isn't killed by injuries.

Somebody hoping for a Archie Manning golden ticket and maybe some more hahahaha
Even if Arch is out, there are some incredibly talented draft eligible QBs next year. La'Norris Sellers has work to do as a passer, but he's an absolutely insane athlete.

I think it's safe to assume Jimmy will miss time given his history. If I was looking for an intriguing aspect to week 18 (and generally speaking I don't know that there's a lot to glean from these weeks when a team neither team has anything to play for) I think it's that LaFleur called plays and he's got a long history with Jimmy.

But yes, I think there's a scenario where the defense gets a ton of resources and this could happen. I would just say it's not likely.

Prefer Jimmy G and Jaxon Dart... Develop him for a year while Jimmy plays.

And then beef up the D in FA to be dominant and add young weapons on offense that will grow with Dart.
or, just sign Stafford.
