It's a nice dream but I'm guessing Mike Munchak has little interest in being a full-time OL-coach.

Munchak is a soon-to-be 65 year-old Hall-of-Famer. He was an NFL OL-coach for 22 seasons, and a head coach for three years. If he wanted a full-time OL-job, he could probably choose from half the teams in the NFL.
Hey I can wish in one hand and have you crap in the other....or something like that.

I know but what do the Giants have that we want? if this goes badly I believe it will mean people will be fired.
A 2nd this year and a 1st next. I think that is fair compensation and giants finally get a talented QB. Not gonna lie, Stafford to Nabors would be pretty sick. I love Stafford and he offers us the best chance to win next season by far, but, we have to think about the following seasons too. This would put us in an excellent position to fill the QB hole with a big time QB prospect and add another weapon this draft.

Agreed he took a discount. The rest could be true but is speculation. We have no idea what he's asking for.
Speculation is what this board is all about
That said, Stafford is the one creating the drama here, and that wouldnt be happening if he was looking for a discount. If he was happy with giving the Rams one, he'd just play on his current contract

Unless Rodgers has changed a lot, I don't see that happening. He demands certain things from his offensive systems that does not mesh at all with McVay's offense and scheming. (Ex. Rodgers doesn't like a lot of motion.)
100% agree, but maybe he sees the Rams as his last chance and McVay as a coach he will work with. I don't really want this scenario to come to life but anything is possible.

Fair enough. I'll add my speculation then.

Stafford is willing to give the Rams a discount in the range of $40m like last year. But he's not willing to play for $23m.

I would think we would have to give back 26 and maybe the Giants give us a 3rd.

...but yeah why not just sign Rodgers if your the Giants?
No chance we give them anything but Stafford and I don't even want that.

True and it might be weak, but until they put this to bed it will still be an issue and I could see the Stafford's wanting to go and experience New York. Also Garoppolo throwing for 334 yards the most passing yards in 2024 plus doing that with backup OL & WR's has me thinking McVay thinks he has found something.
He found something with Mayfield but wasn’t ready to pull the cord. If they trade Stafford they are going all in…,next year.

Maximize cap space, bridge with G-string, draft a QB this year to understudy, load up on a couple stud FAs next year, let PHI dominate one more year then crush all NFL souls in 2026.

Please no on the QBs this year (at least in the 1st round), I guess I can convince myself on Cam Ward if I squint really hard but no no no to drafting a QB this year unless it's a flyer on a guy in the 2nd or 3rd (where I think most are gonna go) and we can still pick a QB next year too.

If Rams could get the 3rd out of the Giants AND trade down from that spot amassing ammo for a trade up for QB next year, I'd actually be a little more than okay with that plan.

The question is—at this stage of his career—why would he want to start over somewhere else? And most likely a place that won’t be as competitive as the Rams.

None of this makes sense, but it’s still frustrating and, to me, obnoxious. I get there’s BTS stuff we don’t know about but you’d think we could get this situated sooner than later.

Either way, at the end of the day, I’d rather have McVay as our HC long term than Stafford for 1-2 more years. Both should be able to happen but alas here we are.

I would wait a year to draft an understudy as next year's crop of signal callers are far better than this year IMHO. Manning & Sellers just to name a few.

My exact thought.

Here is what I worked out the other day assuming we can find a trade down partner:

Staff & #26 for #3 - we'll have to include our 1st for the Giants to bite.
#3 for #10, #42, and 2026 1st - this is assuming a team is really hot on a top 3 target.

#10 - draft any number of game changing players at OT, WR, RB, or CB.
#42 - QB, Dart

If the bridge vet or Dart aren't the answer after this season, they have two 1st round picks to trade up for a QB in next year's much stronger draft.

They will also have $170m or more in 2026 salary cap space once subtracting Stafford's and Kupp's contracts.

Matthew Stafford IS the Rams' "crusher of souls" ... and, those guys are extremely hard to find.

I really hope the Rams hold-on-to theirs.
