Teams respected Goff's deep ball in 2018 and 2017. He didn't just forget how to throw deep. Cam was already running the ball well against Green Bay. The problem for us was our defense not getting off the field and giving up points. We lose that game with Stafford, just like we did with Goff. It is what it is.

Whelp, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it.

So be it.

I hope that you feel better about it soon Jrry32.

I initially read it as the Rams paid Goff this year and the Lions paid for Stafford this year.

So we stay right where we were for 2021, but can extend him for cap relief this year and have more for the next two.
No we don't stay where we were. Goff didn't play well the past two seasons. So Stafford is an upgrade over the Goff you've seen for the past two seasons. And the fact McVay targeted him means he wants his ability to stretch the field. IMO.

Oh. And how did that deep ball look in the SB?

Late, underthrown, and picked?

They are absolutely paying the 22.5 mill. Its dead cap money that has already been paid to Goff that automatically accelerates. And at the moment they are paying Stafford 9.5 mill salary and will pay his 10 mill roster bonus

This was all I could find for now...

The Rams will take a $22.2 million dead-cap charge with his trade, saving $12.4 million off of his scheduled $34.6 million cap hit for 2021. The Lions will pay Goff $27.8 million in 2021, and his $25.5 million salary for 2022 will guarantee this March.

So it seems we save 5.5 from there reg salary plus the 12.5 for a total of about 18 million. And obviously there after we are completely free of it. And if they restructure Stafford who asked to ay for mcvay and the rams and said he doesn't care about money it would be further savings.

Shit makes me want to cry...

Consider the receivers that Goff has had, the running game, and McVay. Then compare it to Staffordshire situation in Detroit. Worse roster, terrible coaches, and no running game, for most of his career. For their numbers to be similar tells me that Stafford is a better QB. Switch QBs in the last 4 years. Do you think Goff looks better in Detroit than Stafford has? Do you think Stafford looks better than Goff with McVay?

Stafford will throw for 4,500 and 35TDs in his first year with McVay. Book it.

I doubt it. I think the scouting coach the Lions picked up from us probably has a good idea about how Goff slots into that offense. I'm actually not worried about Goff. I think he'll elevate the receivers there and Anthony Lynns much less technical offense will probably be good for him.

I'm worried about us. I'm worried about interior pressure disrupting our play calls. I'm a little worried about installing McVay's somewhat complicated scheme on a QB who is used to playing a certain way. I'm worried about all our coaching departures. It's a lot of turnover to handle.

You're not worried about Goff going to a team with a much worse OL but you're worried about our OL? Okay

I don't see that happening, my friend. I was in the middle of drafting one up when this trade happened, and I deleted it. Don't know if I'm going to get past this decision. Guess we'll see.

Only way it happens is if the Rams restructure Stafford's deal. And the only way that happens is if the Rams give Stafford guaranteed money to restructure his deal.
Seriously @jrry32? Where you gonna go? You gonna go Mock for the 9ers? Yeah, right!

I'll say one thing about this front office... They get out in FRONT of shit.

Yeah ok not funny. But I do like the aggression of going after their target right out the gate and getting their guy. Rams do not fuck around.
At some point, maybe now, they have run out of first round picks to spend. They have paid top dollar for the marquee players they wanted to keep and acquire, and now the credit card is maxed out. I think they have been recklessly spending first round picks.
