This is my Lions fan buddy was saying. Outside of the Calvin Johnson years this is probably Stafford's best wide receiver core he's had this past year. Galloday has really came on and may get really big money. Marvin Jones is 31 or 32 but can still fly and that would be a reasonable pickup.

Jones will be 31 in March. And would be a great pickup if they can get him for a reasonable contract for a couple of seasons. Than we could focus the draft on o-line and defense.

I don't think any team would have given up a 1st rnd pick for goff and his contract yet apparently there were about 10 teams interested in Stafford with the expectation that a first rnd pick would be a starting point.

If I recall hes only owed 43 mil over the next 2 years so we're not just getting stafford but we can also keep another player that would have been cut due to salary cap restrictions.

And if he doesn't work out we still have wolford who I think would have beat out goff in training camps open competition anyway. I think mcvay sees him as a better fit for his offense and I agree.

If you would have told me 2 years ago that goff would have 42 to passes and 38 turnovers over the next 2 seasons and been 25th in qb rating for 2020 I would have been shocked but the fact is hes been horrendous.

Mcvay has mentioned staffords ability to see the field, make good decisions and be mobile, which are some of Goffs biggest flaws.

I've been telling people since the Seahawks game that goff wouldn't be starting in 2121 because hes not a good fit for what mcvay wants and mcvay has let us know that. My hope was that either stafford start or at least an open competition with wolford. I just figured the rams didn't have the firepower to land stafford.

Mark my words; people criticizing now will love this trade by December.

I switched it up to this one. Not the greatest by any means but I'm sure we'll have some good options come training camp time.

Edit: But Stafford looks like an absolute fuckin' stud in your avatar.

Exactly and I trust my resource Lions fan. He knows what he sees in Stafford and speaks very highly of him.

By the way, I was a little shocked of how much we gave up but then I look at it differently today.

Until the Rams rework Stafford's contract, they have $20 million on the books for Stafford and $22 million on the books for Goff. It's a net loss of about $8 million. Spotrac isn't correct. We have to eat Goff's dead money. Detroit cannot take it in a trade.

@jrry

Brother this is about winning the SB in the next 2 seasons while Donald and Ramsey are in their prime.

Who cares about Sporttrac and over the cap and all that crap.

If the Rams are holding up the Lombardi in the next 2 seasons, I could give a rats ass about the cap.

For that matter, we could just steal signs in the playoffs.

Oh, wait...thats baseball.

I feel better after a nights sleep. I’m excited to see what McVay can do with Stafford. If he wants him, then I’m in. But we better be back to 30 points a game type offense and not the crap playcalling we saw this year. So I’m in and excited.

I just wish the FO would be better at giving contracts. So many self-inflicted wounds.

McVay has had to cut down the playbook significantly in these last two years. Many of us laughed at guys like Aikman saying McVay has to be perfect when calling plays because of Goff's limitations. Aikman knows what he's seeing. Also just the fact that McVay had to hold hos hand through every play in 2018, should have told us all what other fans laughed at Goff for.

You may be right but we weren't able to sign both Brockers and Saffold because of cap hell.

The Rams have proven that they can work around the cap so we have room to sign a FA or two but they are usually one year guys.

However, I doubt we will be able to sign Floyd or Johnson because of this cap hell.

As it turned out they could have sign Saffold too. He got much less than projected. They assumed that they couldn't . It also seems that they felt, or Kromer felt that Noteboom could fill in admirably at LG.

I look at these trades like this. Are the Rams chances of drafting a guy of Stafford's caliber with either late first round pick very high? I'd say the chance is almost zero. So the picks were worth it.

And people hate this trade. SMH
I've told you why

He is 33 has a bad back and most of those stats come with the Lions behind and other teams letting Stafford pass with linebackers and safeties playing back.

I could be wrong and I will eat crow if he does as well as a Ram but I just don't see it.

Stats don't mean anything in my book. I go by what they do to preserve wins or how they do in comebacks.

I think Stafford had one year where he brought the lions back from behind frequently but other than that one year, he really hasn't been good on the win loss ratio. Maybe with a better defense and run game - Stafford will come alive. We shall see,

I spent the night watching clips of Stafford. At first it pained me because I was wrong. Then I got excited because me being wrong meant the deal was much better than I initially thought.

1) Arm. Goff has a good arm. Stafford has a GREAT arm.

2) Processing speed. Goff struggles sometimes processing pressure. Stafford clearly processes MUCH faster.

3) Mobility. Goff at 26 is BARELY more mobile than Tom Brady and Brady slides better in the pocket at 43. Stafford is more mobile than Rodgers in the pocket.

4) Toughness. Both are very tough.

5) Football IQ. Goff has decent awareness. Stafford has a very high football IQ.

6) Eye Test. Based on what McVay clearly covets for his offense, it's easy to see that Stafford is a perfect fit.

7) Deep ball. One of the things Goff has really struggled with the last two years is hitting the deep ball in stride. Stafford excels at this

I'm hoping that Stafford is kinda like Jim Plunkett for us. Plunkett was a #1 overall pick (Patriots) who struggled and was traded for a QB and two 1st round picks (SF). He went on to win 2 Super Bowls (Raiders). Stafford's had a much better go than Plunkett did, but there are some similarities. Point being that he had uneven success at his first stop and when he went to a stop with very good Offensive coaching (Tom Flores), he flourished. Not by today's standards, but led the team to 2 Super Bowls. It's not a completely parallel story.

Hopefully we keep both Woods and Kupp because with Akers and Higbee and Jefferson, that's a very sure handed group. While Stafford has had individual weapons including time with Calvin Johnson, who was often triple teamed, Stafford's never had a group of weapons like this.

The rest of the league is right to be worried, especially the rest of our division...
Mac, I agree with all of that, a very measured and fair assessment. I would add that Stafford has better pocket awareness than Goff. I think Stafford will be better able to sense pressure and move around to make a throw or avoid a sack. It kind of goes together with processing speed.

I don’t like giving up two firsts and a third to get him. If part of the reason for giving up these picks to unload Goff’s contract, then that’s on Snead/McVay/Demoff for including so much guaranteed money. Our cap situation this year is shit and we still need to improve the offensive line and resign or replace some very good players on defense.

Just like posters here always say to those who want to jump ship.....See Ya!! Kick Rocks!! Hasta La Vita Baby!! Don't Let he Door Hit ya in the Ass!! Go Jump on Another Bandwagon! The 40 Whiners are always looking for new fans!! Goodbye!! I love Goff, He's a great kid...A team guy for sure, I wish nothing but the best for him.....But come on guys, with Goff you could tell within the first two possessions if we were gonna win or not, and what kinda day we were in for. He Goffed it up quite a bit. Was I super excited to hear Stafford was coming? No, But I personally think he'll be an upgrade. And the be fair Goff was Fishers guy. McVay will make Stafford even better....watch. Sean McVay and Les Sneed know a lot more about this team and its needs than any of you do. Thrash all ya want, At least I'm loyal. To see some of the names of the people wanting to "jump ship" was pretty shocking and disappointing. Lots of respect lost....sad. I hope that those that said they were leaving already did. Horns Up!! Go Rams!!

Well, sportrac is updated, so at the moment the Rams QB spot will take up an additional 8 mill of cap space
So for those thinking this trade would help us keep Floyd or Johnson? This trade now means without question both are gone
Yes, that concerns me too, plus we need to improve the offensive line. Maybe they will restructure Donald’s contract to make more cap room in 2021.

Must say Natural casing.

I actually had to send an email to Hoffy to find out where I can find them here in So Cal.
We have Smart & Final and Smart & Final Extra out here.
Smart and Final Extra carries them, but Smart and Final doesn't.
Some Albertson's out here also have them.

I love the air-fryer for dogs and sausages as well.
I got excited because they are supposed to be available on amazon according to their website but on amazon it says out of stock not sure if they'll return :cautious:. I'm losing hope I can get them since I've never heard of any of those stores you referenced lol

I love this trade. Stafford numbers will probably be some of his best of his career here.
We finally get to see Mcvays true offense as there will be no need for watering it down.
Steep price, but I have complete faith that Snead will keep the talent flowing.
Guess I need to go avatar shopping.

He has been on some terrible teams. He's never had what we would call a good team. One year he threw for 5000 yards and 40 tds. That's a top five stat and he didn't have his coach telling him what plays to call. QBs have played into their early 40's. If Stafford plays five years then this trade is a big success. The Rams window is open now. They had to make a move.

Your reasons sound like generalizations stretched to endorse your opinion. Its funny because I am a skeptical thinker, and have always used critical analysis when considering everything. To me his move is a no brainer and as big if not bigger than getting Ramsey. This is the best I've felt about the Rams chances since early 2018.
