Maybe but I just don't see it. Stafford is getting older and I think his stats are just going to go down each year.This will be a great test to see if McVay is the offensive genius that many (including himself) think he is. He identified Goff as the weak link of this offense and made an aggressive move to get Stafford.
It's not the exact same, but it does remind me of when they traded Peters, and then traded for Ramsey while giving up 2 1sts. That's worked out well so far. They went from a good cb who made his share of mental mistakes, to an elite cb.
This one was harder to understand at first because many of us have grown attached to Goff. I know I had him and Stafford as similar-level QBs. Hopefully McVay is correct here. I understand his frustrations with Goff; we all watched the struggles against SF and Miami this year for example. And maybe getting out a Detroit will lead to Stafford putting up career best numbers.
I don't believe he has the talent of a Brees Brady and even Rivers to age well.
