Time to rally around Stafford and play good football.

I was a fan when we had Kyle Boller at QB. I am more than happy to support the Rams with Stafford.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in Kupp’s and Wood’s walls. I bet they are sorry their pal will be moving on, but there is some relief too. Like when your 99 year old Grandma lingers for months in a bed before passing on.

It's a great situation for us honestly. Look I wanted Watson too, but we cant be mad at upgrading with Stafford.

I dont think people understand how bad Detroit would've been recently if they didnt have Stafford. They would be looked at like the Jets and the Jaguars. Stafford has a ton of respect around the league because of his talent. And ultimately that's what McVay wanted. A talent upgrade at QB.

Just imagine pairing a top 3 arm talent with McVay, in our scheme, with way more weapons than he had in Det. It's only going to result is a positive result :fistbump:.

I will grant you that Stafford is a better processor and a better arm.

By OTAs, I really hope the receivers are giving WOWs and thumbs up on this...

The cap relief of 43 million guaranteed being taken on by Detroit is worth Goff a first and a third. So they traded a first for Stafford. Likely a late first.
I get that, but I don’t see cap space clearing for this year. Seems like we are paying more. A little space in 2022 and 2023 it’s all good. But I don’t see any immediate cap clearing at all on this trade.

I have non-Ram-friends telling me this is a great trade. I just don't see it.

The best thing I can say about the trade is that it appears to be an all-in, win now deal to max out the Rams' chances while they have Aaron Donald in his prime, paired with Jalen Ramsay on D and some professional route runners on O.

But imo McVay needs to retool the offense for this to work. I truly doubt Stafford can run McVay's short pass, dink and dunk offense any better than Goff. And even if Akers breaks out it's still basically a medium ceiling offense.

If we want to take advantage of Stafford's arm we still need better blocking and deep threats down the field. Not sure where those reinforcements are coming from any time soon.

Definitely a prove it year for Snead and McVay. They went all in on this so they have a heavy burden on their hands.

Things I'm going to be looking for next season:
  • Do we simplify the offense for Stafford considering it's his first year in the system? Are we still going to be lining up with only a handful of seconds on the play clock?
  • Do we make any changes to the line and does the deep game return?
  • What are we doing on third and long?
  • Are we a run first offense?
Stafford is a remarkably similar QB to Goff. The Rams choose not to shoot for mobility. Both are liable to throw INTs under pressure. Stafford is less likely to fumble.

I would agree with you if we haven't been drafting so well with our mid round picks.. rounds 2-5. We've been killing it there lately and we've had no 1st rounder as is in 5 years. Players > picks... ALWAYS. And getting out of Goff's contract!!!?? Who the hell thought we could do that.

People aren't thinking enough about the Stafford/McVay combo. It's going to be insane I'm telling you right now. If we sign a deep threat we will be competing for an NFC title next year.

Golliday could be the deep threat.

I’m skeptical about how much we gave up but wtf do I know maybe this is fair compensation for eating the guarantees.

I think Stafford is a plus qb in this league and expect him to do well in our offense.

Let’s hope we upgrade Blythe and really enable our new qb.

Let’s go Stafford!!

Yeah, I think the guarantees is huge.

Also... this move fucks the 9ers... which is always a good thing...

Yea I was right there with you brother. I had a strong feeling we would be moving on from Goff based on McVay recently. And all the Ramsey talk had me leaning toward Watson too. I'm sure we kicked the tires but it would've cost too much. But getting rid of Goff's contract will help us in future years big time.

Once the pain dissipates in a lot of people I truly hope they realize how good Stafford has been. And they watch the film and use their eyes instead of just listen to other posters who use W/L stats to build a case against him. They'll see how great his arm talent is. How great of a leader he is. How smart he is. How competitive he is. Been following the dudes career for a long time and always been a huge fan.

Pairing him with McVay will result in a huge bounce back for the offense. There's a reason Shanahan wanted Stafford too. He's going to be a monster for us.
I'm praying your right Bro

I dont understand where this helps the cap this year. Goff still hits for 22 mill, Stafford another 10 mill
NFLN says that Detroit all of Goffs contract, which would mean this year, I would think...

Over all, having seen a lot of Lion games, Stafford is better under pressure (often behind bad lines) than Goff.
Overall, just an impression.

I think to be able to make a move like this that Snead and McVay have the keys to the house with the parents (Demoff and Kroenke) blessing. They have proofed enough already. Name an available GM or coach you’d rather hire. They are all about winning. That’s something this franchise lacked since Martz/Vermiel

I don't know what they'll do with Stafford's contract. But as it stands now, they lose $8 million cap room from this trade. They could extend Stafford and lower his cap number, but they'll have to give him guaranteed money to do that. And considering this team's recent history with extensions and guaranteed money . . .

I just love hearing everyone all up in arms over this move like any of us had a say in the matter. McVay and Snead get paid to do this shit but some people here think they know better. It’s laughable really hearing people say things like “I may stop supporting this team” but spent hours upon hours defending Goff. Way to show where your loyalty rests.

I’m thrilled over this move for one reason and one only: our organization felt this was best for the team right now and they went for it. I support this team no matter what and I look forward to ‘21 and for Stafford under center.
