We just got trade-raped. I'm so angry. I'm not sure I can continue rooting for this team.

Get over it @jrry32

It was more than I expected but it was what was needed to be done. Jared Goff is gone and so are 3 big draft capitol picks.

2021 1st and 3rd rounders and our 2022 1st round pick. It was more than I expected for Stafford's value but I can deal with it and you need to deal with it as well.

McVay and Snead believe they can win the SB next year with Stafford and I'm on board with them.

So far, this is the only post that helps make any sense of this deal.

It’s not just 2 1sts and a 3rd and Goff for Stafford.

Its for Stafford AND 43MILLION in extra cap space.

What if Rams can now afford some premium FA to beef up the O-line, and add a deep threat, and keep JJ or Fowler?

If so, the Rams would be a team to be reckoned with for 2021 and beyond.

Yes, at first glance the trade looks awful. But let’s see what the Rams can add in FA as a result of this deal.

The Rams lose cap space in this deal for the next 2 years. And considering you pay Stafford probably there really is no extra cap gained.

They did well with mid picks, they would probably do better with firsts. They keep kicking the salary cap can on down the road and will leave a big mess for whomever takes over when they're gone. Stafford may do better than Goff, but he had a broken back last year, played hurt and missed games this year and is 33 years old. We got fucked on this deal. If they didn't give Goff a contract 2 years too early, we wouldn't of had to pay someone to take on Goff's contract, which doesn't even start till next year. We never had to give him a contract and could have just said buh bye without having to eat $22mil of dead cap and give up all the picks. They fucked this up badly! They are good at fucking shit up.

We ate over $30mil of dead cap last year and will do it again this year, we still have dead cap for Gurley this year.
That's over $60mil of cap space gone. WE could fill every hole on our team with good players with that money.
They are lucky they have silent owner that doesn't go in front of the media and belittle them for how much of his fucking money they wasted. Giving huge up front bonus's and a shit ton of guaranteed money for a player who gets dumped before his huge contract even starts! And we sit here and laugh at how shitty other teams run their franchises.

Cant argue the contract decisions my dude. They've been bad bad bad bad bad bad...and yea we're paying the price with all the dead cap $. There's no doubt about it. But this move actually helps our cap number in future seasons ironically enough.

I'm just purely talking about QB for QB, and want people to understand the talent that Stafford has. He's been surrounded by shit support and coaching in Detroit for YEARS and has still carried that team on his arm. Pairing him with McVay/ Akers/ Kupp/ Woods/ Higbee has to be a dream scenario for him.

Sorry to see Jared Goff go. I really liked him. I wish him good luck in the circus known as the Detroit Lions. He's going to need it. I've watched Matthew Stafford do some amazing ballsy things over the years for the Lions and welcome that to our team.

However, when I first heard of the trade from my daughter, I thought WE were getting the first rounders. I haven't followed the cap angle very closely but presume that somehow this will help us?

If Stafford can stay healthy I believe he can move us forward better than Jared. That's a vote on next season only though. We have to hope he stays healthy and doesn't suffer age-related decline (or just walk away as a free agent or whatever).

I didn't like the public inferred diss'ing of Jared by Snead and McVay, but I like Snead's balls to do what it takes to win!

Go Rams and go Stafford.

I’m stunned. Not really excited about the trade. My only thought here is there must have been a serious disconnect between Goff and McVay. I love McVay and I think Snead drafts well. I love the idea that they want to reward players that have played well for us but I’m hoping they’ve learned their lesson at this point. Goff shouldn’t have gotten the contract he received but I understand why he got it. It was preemptive and unfortunately it didn’t pan out. In fact, Goff regressed and it probably pissed McVay off. Understandable. Regardless, I just don’t love us giving up so much draft capital. If we had done this for Watson, I’m ecstatic. For Stafford...eh.

But here’s the thing. FO was right to move on from Gurley. McVay has completely changed our team from the dumpster fire it was for many years. So, as much as I’m stunned and a bit saddened by how everything has gone down, McVay and Snead have gotten us to the playoffs 3 out of his 4 years.

I’m still taking this over the Linehan, Spags debacles. Not happy but I’m trying to trust our staff and front office on this one. I hope it works out for both sides.

NFLN says that Detroit all of Goffs contract, which would mean this year, I would think...
22 mill is the signing bonus and restructure money the Rams get hit with. Stafford costs 9.5 and another 10 mill roster bonus that I am hoping Detroit picked up

At first I thought it was too much but I honestly think a 1st round pick is worth the cap space it saves the rams. I trust Snead and Mcvay and I think Staffords talent brings the rams into contention again! Lets go!!!!

The Rams have now traded 4 first round picks 2 second round picks 3 third round picks paid $81 million dollars to Jared Goff to get Matt fucking Stafford and his soon to be 33 year old 62% career completion percentage and some of you are happy with this? I'll think about coming back maybe eventually. Snead and McVay gone will help speed it up.

People talked about needing a more mobile QB that was what McVay wanted. And we got a 33 year old statue back there who can't complete the ball.

We lost to GB in the playoffs so we got a guy who is 7-13 vs them. He's beat the Niners and the Seahawks each once in his career and can't win vs the shitty teams in his division the Bears and the Vikings.

We are now paying $42 million to the QB this year and with Goff have over $30 million in dead cap money again!

We have an OLine that has one guy approaching 40 and a bunch of mediocre guys now protecting a guy who can't run and gets hurt.

The Rams go played pure and simple and deserve to be laughed at by the rest of the league and her fans. Bill O'Brien is proud of Snead what a colossal fucking joke.

It's a great situation for us honestly. Look I wanted Watson too, but we cant be mad at upgrading with Stafford.

I dont think people understand how bad Detroit would've been recently if they didnt have Stafford. They would be looked at like the Jets and the Jaguars. Stafford has a ton of respect around the league because of his talent. And ultimately that's what McVay wanted. A talent upgrade at QB.

Just imagine pairing a top 3 arm talent with McVay, in our scheme, with way more weapons than he had in Det. It's only going to result is a positive result :fistbump:.
I don't mind Stafford as much as we have to give away picks for someone to takes Goff's contract off our hands because we gave him a contract we didn't have too.

Would be interesting to see how the offense looks next season, because anybody with eyes could tell that McVay had to at times dial down the offense due to Goff low football IQ - limitations
The disgust in McVay's face with Goff in our game at Seattle was so obvious. When Goff slid down a half a yard short of the first down marker he looked like he was ready to blow a gasket. The way Goff carried himself like a zombie on the field drove McVay bonkers he wanted a change so bad and now he got it so it's up to him now to deliver.
