Giving up a first and a third to get rid of a QB who is winning is an unspeakably dumb decision, unless you replace him with a QB who wins a Super Bowl. They went all in on Stafford to win a Super Bowl. If he doesn't do that in the next two or three years, this deal was a failure of epic proportions. And god help this franchise if Goff actually plays well in Detroit (which doesn't look likely with all their WRs being free agents, but you never know).

Maybe this will be a wake up call to Goff, to not let whatever happened this year happen again.

I recall him not seeing the field in several games and receivers being open. The roll outs weren’t just to hide the Oline problem. They were also to cut down the field and make it easier on Goff. That’s the same think the Niners did with Kaepernick. No matter how good of an Oline a team has there the best teams in the league will have ways to pressure a QB. Goff never operated well under a lot of pressure

Don't get me wrong... I REALLY hope it works out. I REALLY do.

And knowing Detroit took on the guarantees... that's a really big deal for us to retain more talent.

I'm warming up to this, but it's gonna take time...

Honestly, the cap relief makes a difference.

It's a great situation for us honestly. Look I wanted Watson too, but we cant be mad at upgrading with Stafford.

I dont think people understand how bad Detroit would've been recently if they didnt have Stafford. They would be looked at like the Jets and the Jaguars. Stafford has a ton of respect around the league because of his talent. And ultimately that's what McVay wanted. A talent upgrade at QB.

Just imagine pairing a top 3 arm talent with McVay, in our scheme, with way more weapons than he had in Det. It's only going to result is a positive result :fistbump:.

Stafford better than goff. I have the feeling this is more mental than anything as I don't think goff is smart enoug in reading a defense or on his progressions. Add in the lack of his mobility and this is a huge upgrade for us.

They'll be fine dude.
Sure, they are pretty much made of teflon. We should expect stupid shit from them.
We will have better QB play there's no doubt about that. And not only that Stafford is in the best situation he's been in in forever. His play will get better under McVay too.

Losing two 1st round picks hurts but they will be picks 37-32 likely so not the end of the world. We've been killing it with our mid round picks lately.. rounds 2-5.

PLAYERS > PICKS 100% of the time
They will probably be picks between 24-32. Those first round picks are important for the health of the team. You get good players on cheap contracts for 5 years. We trade them away for proven veterans that are due a new fat contract. That's why we are in cap hell. We get out of Goff's contract, but many days will it be before Stafford gets a new deal?

It’s the most important position by far. We didn’t have it. Now we do.

It is a high price. It is.

It title or bust.

There was a time a while ago I saw Stafford mic'd up and wished we had a leader like that on our team.

I haven't been a 100% confident in Goff but thought it deserved to be critical of our OL. And the lack of a real deep threat this year. I will not easily give up on McSnead. They have done much good.

Shock brings out interesting emotions. I was shocked about Gurley as well. Turned out to be a great move.

I have always believed #1s are over rated. The players we are concerned about losing are not number 1s. So there is that. Ramsey was well worth what we have paid. We got a certain #1 for a couple uncertain #1s.

I am looking at my Goff signed football on the mantle. I wish nothing but Goff well. I need to break even on my investment.

I’m skeptical about how much we gave up but wtf do I know maybe this is fair compensation for eating the guarantees.

I think Stafford is a plus qb in this league and expect him to do well in our offense.

Let’s hope we upgrade Blythe and really enable our new qb.

Let’s go Stafford!!

I would agree with you if we haven't been drafting so well with our mid round picks.. rounds 2-5. We've been killing it there lately and we've had no 1st rounder as is in 5 years. Players > picks... ALWAYS. And getting out of Goff's contract!!!?? Who the hell thought we could do that.

People aren't thinking enough about the Stafford/McVay combo. It's going to be insane I'm telling you right now. If we sign a deep threat we will be competing for an NFC title next year.

I wasn't saying the Rams are going to dump Stafford after one season , just that his contract seems alot more user friendly

Didn't mean to suggest otherwise, but it's just hard to feel good about being able to get out of yet another contract if this doesn't work out.

Dude, I TRULY hope you're right.

Watching the highlights, he does kinda look like an upgrade... hasn't been my experience, but at this point... it's done.

I'm pissed and flummoxed because my intuition and patterns both had us getting Watson.

Maybe the Texans are making it clear they're gonna force Watson to hold out and the Rams moved with extra because apparently the Washington offer was better... so maybe Holmes did US a solid.

I dunno...
