IDK, Olson is not calling plays, so there is that. There might be somebody else around the NFL, I guess we will have to take a wait & see approach.
Neither is Coen. It’s not Coens offense or his players or his play calls. But apparently it’s his fault and cost him his job. This has made me laugh all year. Every excuse is made for the offense and McVay but all t(e peop”e under him are responsible.

Not true at all. He's an extremely sought after coach in SEC and they fired their OC weeks ago. If anything it was a weird move he left there in the 1st place
Yeah I get that it was a move to the NFL and all but this seemed like a demotion. It felt like he was doin* his friend a favor because McVay didn’t have anybody else.

If McVay was happy with him he would be staying.

I didn't post that, Kentucky wanted Coen back really bad and I'm sure compensated him accordingly. He doesn't call plays for the Rams and the Wildcat offense went south under Rich Scangarello.

In your opinion with no inside knowledge. My opinion without inside knowledge is you’re incorrect. The beauty of the Internet! And we’ll never know the truth because no matter what McVay, Coen or anybody else says it will be written off as coach speak or not trashing his friend or whatever else. You can keep saying the same thing that you can’t prove and I’ll do the same. I think he left because he wants to actually be an OC and not just have the title of OC without t(e j9b.

You're getting a bit serious about this OS.

Fact is he dropped Kentucky the moment McVay called. His offense has not been good. We are defending champs with the highest standards. McVay has shown a willingness to make decisive moves with his staff as proven when he moved on from Wade. And McVay is a fucking rockstar.

Seems obvious to me but by all means delude yourself if you choose. :laugh1:

Its just not true. If Kentucky didnt fire their OC, he'd still be on the Rams coaching staff
Its his show down there, Stoops will hand him the keys
There's no way McVay puts the blame on Coen, that would be a total failure his own part

You know that he was with the Rams before Kentucky right?
You've got some warped theory here and need to take a step back and take a deep breath. Coen was a rising star in Rams land, both he and Waldron wanted that Kentucky job and he landed it. He wrote his own ticket after his 1st year there and going back to the Rams (outside of the Rams colored dome) was viewed as a mistake by many.
He's back where he belongs and good for him. Another solid year of offense in the SEC and he'll be a HC
But you do you

Yep. When a perennial contender underperforms heads roll. More to come.
Even some fans will probably get their walking papers, which I've been meaning to discuss with you Merlin....

If he stayed at Kentucky, he'd likely be a HC now, looks like we're saying the same thing...

You can't blame Coen without blaming McVay too. McVay calls the shots on offense. Maybe Coen would prefer to have a job where he is actually in charge.

Of course and I am not making excuses for this offense. I am not one of the clowns polarizing the offense vs defense. But are we going to fire McVay? That is not an option.

So what it looks like to me is McVay wants to go in another direction and he gets supported. As he should be.

If you prefer to buy McVay's politically correct spin that's fine by me. Not threatened by differing opinions.

McVay's offense. Do you honestly think sitting here this is Coen's offense and not McVays? Seriously you think McVay gave over total control of the offense, minus of course play calling. I'm not serious about it I disagree with your assertion that McVay fired him which is what you're saying. Also according to McVay he and Coen have talked about this move and nothing is set yet per his understanding.

By all means if you think McVay is going to fire his friend midseason for McVay's offense not being good due to injury that's up to you. As I said we'll never know what happened because McVay won't throw somebody under the bus. And if he comes out in support of Coen you'll just say he wouldn't talk bad about his friend on the way out.

You're going to be accused of wanting to fire McVay with that line of thinking watch out!

edit: too late

It sure seems pretty obvious that this was something both parties agreed was a good decision for Coen.

If things were good, McVay would fight to keep him. Coen would be getting a raise / more responsibility or NFL HC opportunities. Neither happening.

Ridiculous and unnecessary post. I was simply pointing out that I do blame McVay however I don't see a reason to rant about him (as I have on many occasions re: the run game in particular this season) and because clearly we're not going to fire him.

It is ok to differ in opinions without trying to warp what the differing opinion is saying. It is going to be ok. Really. :laugh1:

That answers a ton of questions from the site.

Wish him the best. How many OC’s have been robbed from us in 5 years? It’s bound to get not a great one.

If Kingsbury gets canned I could see him being our OC next year.
You may be onto something there Corbin. He has always seemed to hold Kliff in high regard.

Of course Kliff will probably grab a HC job in college. Those college girls I imagine are quite the draw. :beer2::woozy2:

I am not blaming Coen, but I am hoping there's a chance McVay brings in a stronger voice that he listens to more and who can take away some of his workload. That's why I think Jay Gruden would be a good choice. Could be assistant HC/offensive coordinator or run game coordinator or whatever...

So I just think Coen was a guy that didn't have enough cred or whatever you want to call it, that McVay still put everything on himself and the offense may have suffered some because of that. Too much tunnel vision in some areas.
