I love Zack Moss in the third, but Fournette gives us a proven HB on third downs and a guy who had the physical talent to go top 5 as a HB. The man was being compared to Adrian Peterson and Bo Jackson back then. Yes, he hasn't produced like that, but the Jaguars haven't given him a lot of help. If we could trade Everett and a 6th for Fournette, would you say no?

Sure, Fournette could prove to be an average HB. But with McVay and (hopefully) better blocking, he might explode like Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, Ricky Williams, Marshawn Lynch, etc. after they were traded. (In fact, if you look at Marshawn Lynch's time in Buffalo, it was a lot like Fournette's time in Jax.) I think it's a risk worth taking if the price is right.
I would definitely say no jrry. This is the type of option a team can take a shot at when they're not in the window where we are, i.e. over the cap by $6M and still needing to sign the last amazing veteran talent Snead went and got from Jax.

If I'm in the GM role my goal is to round out the by committee backfield. We have a quick back who is well rounded with some pass catching ability and an ideal fit for this offense in Hendy. I'd be after a replacement for Brown, a power back who can soften a defense up and allow for eating clock when we're in that mode with (hopefully) a good lead. He could also eat carries when needed which is where Brown came up short the past two seasons. Tons of options for that role and can be had with cheap picks on into UDFA range but I'd be after Kelly/Dillon or if McVay is hell bent on another good fit type there's guys like Darius Anderson who is a fantastic fit and will be on the board a long time.

This RB class is crazy IMO. Here's a full game of Darius' from last year vs a good Ohio St defense:

I'm all for it. They could trade him at the end of the season to recover the pick.

No! Rams can find the running back help they need in the draft in the mid rounds. Running back by committee. No more big dollar running backs. The Gurley fiasco need not be repeated. Unfortunately it’s a proven fact that running backs don’t last long in the NFL especially the bell cow types. Most cannot make it through their original contract without injury.

Not in touchdowns. There it was not even close.

That's a stat that depends more on scheme and situation than ability.

I hear you. There are two big reasons why I disagree:
1. Pass Protection - Gurley was our guy. Jags fans tell me that Fournette is fantastic at it. If Henderson can't do the job, I worry about Goff. Having a HB who can protect the QB is very important in this scheme. Brown has shown flashes in the past, but he's never been asked to do it full time, and I think he's a fairly pedestrian runner. The vast, vast majority of rookies have hiccups in pass pro. Zack Moss is the only one in this class I've seen thus far who is NFL caliber at it imo. Problem is that NFL blitz schemes are something he's never seen before.

2. The pick - To grab a guy like Moss, we'll have to use a third. If we want to draft somebody better, that requires a second. Even if we draft somebody worse, that still likely involves our fourth. If we were to move Everett and a 6th, we could use that top 100 pick on a player at a different position. That's enticing for me.

And as I've said before, I think Dillon is a nonstarter in this scheme because he doesn't contribute much on passing downs. Fournette gives us the power HB people want. He's also capable of contributing positively on passing downs. And he's a pretty great athlete. I think it's a deal worth strong consideration.

i like the trade, for a 6th rounder why not? my opinion, leave it up to McVay and Snead

train
If you could get him for a 6th rounder, sure it's a good deal. Then you could run him hard for a season and hope some team gives him a decent contract so you could score a decent comp pick next year.

.

Wasn't he all over Twitter telling everyone the jags should sign cam Newton?

Is that what you want on your team? A malcontent who undermines the team on social media.

He and his teammates dealt with a really unreasonable front office for some time. Ramsey eluded to it as well. They had more union grievances filed than than any other team by far while Tom Coughlin was there. He wants a recently Pro Bowl and MVP QB and current free agent to be his team's QB. I can understand where he's coming from. The Rams have done well recently with guys who may have had issues elsewhere.

Well, as long as the plan is not to extend him, I might be for it. So far, Fowler worked out great and Ramsey is a stud, I guess the Rams will take every Jaguar that has proven to be good and make them better.

It was not JUST saying he wanted Newton. He was also on the NFL network this week saying they lost in the afc championship two years ago because of coughlin. So he also dissed a guy that not only won two Super Bowls but led the original expansion jags to two afc championships. LF‘s career has been littered not only with injuries but immaturity. I am fine with getting him for a 6th but I would not put a lot of faith in him.

Coughlin deserves the disses. This is from somebody who once thought extremely highly of Coughlin. He blew up that team with his toxic style.

Disagree. Coughlin has always been a disciplinary. Just like bellichek. His problem is that he did not have his guys in the locker room and had a number of divas. and that includes ramsey.

Don't hold back Merlin!

I'm surprised how much traction the possible LF trade has gotten. I'm with you here. A one year rental at $4.1Mil seems short-sided. I don't t see the Rams giving him a long term expensive deal even with a good year. I have a lot of faith in Henderson to be the explosive back he was drafted for. LF would take away from Henderson's opportunity to show off his special talents. Snead can find a solid RB in round three that can take over the #2 spot and be around for four years at a very reasonable cost. He would also be good insurance for injury to Henderson and can help keep Henderson fresh. Rams save valuable cap space and get a younger longer-term value.
It's not necessarily a 1 year rental who said that. LF is going into his 4th year of a 5 year deal. We can have him on a rookie deal for 2 years.

His 5th year costs ver 10 million. So we can keep him a second but it could cost us a Krupp or J.J.

Year two would cost $10Mil for his 5th-year option. (It was posted earlier). I doubt he would be happy with that and could become a disruption if not given an expensive long term deal. Rams have others that need to be paid as mentioned above.

This is the no brainier of the off-season by a mile. Top 5 RB, inexpensive, great receiver and great in pass protection. This is a must deal period. Opens up our draft.

If you guys want to count on Brown who is margi Al I wanted to keep CJ over him. Henderson who showed nothing last year imo and a mid level draftee go for it and I will tell you now I will be saying at the end of the year I told you so.

We need a RB that strikes fear into defenders so they don't go light in the box thus making it harder for our WRs to get open bc they don't respect our run game.

Yea that's the thing that Is holding me back from wanting to go after LF.

That is what totally bugged me about the Leonard Floyd Contract. We give a player 10M on a one year deal when he has under produced at the NFL level.

Now when there is a proven player available like Fournette where is our cash?

Fournette would be a great signing if we didn't go on a spending spree already for JAGs.

I would love a Fournette. All around game, proven NFL production on a crappy team. Dam near Pro Bowl talent.

That's an excuse. That team had a lot of talent and some talented veterans, yet all their young talent ended up hating Coughlin's guts and demanding off the team. Fowler Jr., Ramsey, Ngakoue, Fournette, etc. were all supposed to be building blocks, and all reached a point where they were so angry they wanted out. I'll direct you to words of wisdom from Raylan Givens:

Huh? They went to the afc championship 2 years ago. A big reason was Calais Campbell who signed with the jags because of coughlin.
