Yep. That's what I meant by the coveted Steelers fan base in that game's gdt. If they had won I'm pretty sure they would've got the late slot. That's why they waited until that game was decided.
What games ended in disaster when they tried to close out the game by running the ball? I decided to check. I've noticed we had 4.5 ypc closing out vs Houston; 6.6 vs Tennessee, 5.5 vs Indy, 2.5 vs Baltimore, 3.5 vs Jacksonville, 4.8 vs New Orleans, 3.5 vs San Fran 2, 3.8 vs Seattle 1, 3.0 vs Tampa, 9.8 vs Arizona (with Rivers 5.1), 6.1 vs Detroit, ***against Seattle 2 we tried to pass to protect the lead 20 passes, 6 runs....how'd that work out?, vs Atlanta we didn't have a lead to protect and finally vs Arizona again, 8.6.
Color me confused as I'm not seeing all these games we tried to close out running the ball that ended in disaster!!! To me, this just seems like another dumbassed statement with nothing to back it up. Surprise, surprise. Of course if you could provide examples of game that ended in disaster, I'd acknowledge them.
I've seen exactly the same thing with Texas/Texans. It definitely looks best in a rear view mirror!

Mitchell was a rare example of a player that blockers are justified in going low, and at the knees.

I always hated Brian Billick after that game. Insisted the injury was a hamstring. I’m yelling at the TV that “it’s a knee … you can’t tell the difference”
Thought Billick was one of those lazy analysts, who didn’t pay attention or put in the work. Tony Romo type of analyst.
Still, that was a scramble out of bounds. That’s not usually the Referee’s call. More a sideline official’s call. Wouldn’t necessarily put the missed call on the Referee.
Will trust you on the 1-8 stat prior to the 2018 NFCC but that was McVay’s 2nd year. From 2004 through 2016, the Rams had 13 straight non-winning seasons.
They had some awful teams, and a very low winning percentage. That could explain and justify most of the 1-8 record when Vinovich was the Referee.
Besides that, Bill Vinovich looks a little like one of my favorite uncles that passed away many years ago. So, there’s that.
Our runny game is much more effective when our oline is healthy.
If Dotson is healthy and ready by Sunday night, it will be a huge plus for us.

To my surprise our running game has been effective all season through all the OL injuries. Actually the OL was my biggest concern coming into this season, but McVay has done a great job with adjustments.
But I still believe we have to stay focused on the passing game and utilize the TE's this Sunday. If we run for 80 yards, pass for 240-300 yards, no TO's and a 60% 3rd down conversion rate we beat the shit out of the Bears.
The wind looked like it affected stafford. Caused him to fire that ball to puka for instance.It's all about the Benjamins!!! What's going to get a larger national audience? Houston @ New England or Los Angeles @ Chicago? We all know the answer to that. Where's that East Coast Bias????
Does 3 hours really matter for the temps? It's forecasted to be 14 for a high Sunday and 8 degrees for a low. Once your nose is numb from the 14, will it really feel the 8?
The plus side of playing the last game of the weekend is, we'll know who's next and where. And we'll be one of the last 5 teams standing either way!!!!
If it’s a short little run under 10 yards. The referee still has the shared responsibility on the back end to follow the QB. My recollection was it happened on a scramble to the right, which is where the referee should be positioned (off tackle and to the right for a right-handed QB).
No reason for the referee not to exercise good judgment and throw a flag as the crew lead even if the down judge may have a good look as well. Player safety is the #1 priority taught to officials at pee wee on up.
Pretty strange as I imagine Bill lives in OC as his accounting practice is in Irvine. Guess he really disliked the witch.

The ball was right to him...... I've watched Puka make catches an octopus would have trouble pulling in.
I think Puka knows that was totally on him.
Actually, the Rams' O-Line has enjoyed relatively good health ... with four starter (Jackson, Dotson, Avila and Shelton) missing a combined 5 games, and 7 starts. That's really good.
Only Havenstein has missed a ton of games ... 10.
However, I would argue McClendon has clearly out-performed Big-Rob at right tackle
Now, if we can contain Caleb and keep him in a dirty pocket, that will help.
The guy is a freak of nature.
Caleb ran for 12 yards in week. He was sacked 3 times and threw for 157 yards. The Rams turned the ball over twice, Chicago 0.
We're 0-2 vs Ben Johnson offenses though we've put up more yards both times (812 to 697), pts 43 to 50. That might suggest with the two of them together, we should be in for a rough game. I suggest we score 52 and see what happens.

He only looked good in the 4th quarter last Weekend..... if it wasn't for the complete meltdown by the Packers, no way the Bears come close to winning that game.
I "kinda" agree except this thing bugs me with McVay...he runs into the teeth of the defense when trying to eat time, rather than running wide or throwing screen passes or quick pitches. When you're trying to eat clock, you run plays that stretch out the defense allowing the runner to pick his holes.
