Haha... He wanted Stafford bad, according to his interview with Sean and Peter. He didn't know Sean and Matthew Stafford were in Cabo as well.
"If I had known, I'd have shown up made things uncomfortable." Kyle said that he had spent two weeks really studying Stafford and he realized that the QB was better than he thought, and he thought a lot of him anyway when he analyzed the prospect before his draft.

I don't know if Shanny let loose some privileged info about a McVay-Stafford get-together by accident or he was just talking.... He then went on to say that the deal ruined his vacation. If this makes me happy, am I a bad person? lol

Now I know I'm going to take quite a bit of heat for this and most of it will be well deserved, but the fact that Kyle Shanahan wanted Matthew Stafford very badly too, makes me feel even better about the acquisition.

We got him because of our owner IMO. Kroenke will support any move required to get better, judging at least from moving their young QB they had just paid in order to upgrade. Remember when the 9ers had that owner and we had Georgia? Yeah me too.

Yeah, sometimes you can tell it's just lip service, or coach speak. But this seems different. Like he is REALLY bummed they missed on him and worse, his rival got him.

Kind of explains why they immediately went all-in to get get sloppy seconds Trey Lance :)
