Weddle would be a great hire. I just think he loves his fam too much to do what these guys do. But yeah that would be something.

McVay puts a high priority on communicators, clearly. So he is definitely a fit. Few guys would be able to command a DB room like EW.

They do this thing called vetting and part is looking at the performance of the players he's charged with. A defense with Ramsey, AD, and Miller, playing inconsistent middle of the road? Staley did the reverse. Took the #21 defense in 2019 and made it the #1 defense in 2020. So yeah they look at that.

McVay's coaching tree is the antithesis of Belichick's: Pick the apple off the former and you'll flourish, take a bite off of the latter and you'll be met with woe and misery.

At this rate every team will have a coach that was an assistant of McVay at one point.

It will be interesting to see a league ignore a guy whose playoff defense thoroughly outperformed a guy tabbed a “genius” and given an HC job.

without looking at any stats i'm 100% positive they would be the #1 defense in the playoffs.
