It's just weed, isn't it? WTF, let homie smoke and ball. It works for the NBA.

If it is just weed and he still chooses to smoke instead of making millions of $s for a few yrs. Then he is just stupid, not an addict. It is sad to see any person throw away a lucrative career or a family over drugs/alcohol. But pot isnt addictive, it is habit forming, there is a big difference.

I’ll take “things we all saw coming” for $100.

Seriously though, this guy has been nothing but a stain on the NFL. Why they keep reinstating him and giving him chance after chance is beyond me. What is there to gain having this guy on an NFL roster? Absolutely nothing. But leave it to Pete Carroll and the Seashits to keep trying to go to bat for this guy.

Edit: I understand that addiction is a mother fucker. And I also understand that some people simply can’t overcome them. But the NFL is a dream job for so many people who will never realize it. For Gordon to keep getting opportunity after opportunity when it’s obvious he has a real problem with sobriety shows that he needs to focus on getting himself right before taking an opportunity away from someone else.

I dont think this is the time or place to even bring that up. Pretty closed minded to make such a comment.

Nah, it's not. Also, it's literally a thread about Josh Gordon not getting any more chances. It's not like @flv brought this up randomly in a Goff thread...

Gordon's an addict and he needs help.

Also, it's possible to be behaviorally addicted to weed which is a different set of problems compared to the chemical addictions like nicotine, alcohol and opiates. As an addict (gambling), the feelings if inadequacy that stem from that lead to further decision that exacerbate the problem, hence the PEDs. Gordon was always enough without any PEDs, but when you're an addict, you can't ever look at yourself and think you're enough. Not an excuse, just a reason And still addiction. Still needs treatment.

At the end of the day, it's just a sad waste of an exceptional talent that at times was transcendent even when not surrounded by tons of talent. Gordon's big year reminds me of Isaac Bruce's big year... with no other WRs of note and Chris Chandler throwing him passes... wow.

Anyway, Gordon had become the Steve Howe of the NFL and at some point, this opportunity has to end and Gordon has to make the decision to be part of his own recovery.

I say this as a person who lamented all the Charlie Sheen jokes and just wants folks who are up against it to be treated and not become just another ingredient in the sausage that is modern "entertainment"

Addiction is a tool used to cope with stress. Perhaps the carrot of money and fame is not lucrative enough to deal with what's causing Gordon stress.

He's had the opportunity to seek advisement from esteemed medical and behavioral professionals with minimal results. Gordon is heading down a path of self destruction. While he may not appear to be bright to turn down money, perhaps there is a more rational reason why he chooses to follow a darker path.

I could give a fuck about Josh Gordon. It's almost funny at this point. Not a tragedy at all the kid still has a chance to pull his head out his ass.

Let's stop all that before next thing we know he's a victim too.

Gordon has had help. We all know that weed is not addictive. The feeling may be something you keep wanting but it has nothing in it to cause dependency.

Alcohol...thats a different story. But since when does the league ban you for drinking? I saw Taylor Lewan chug a beer thru a dead fish at a hockey game.

This league and its members of its community have tried to help him. At this point he is a fuckin idiot who doesn't want to change.

Before anyone thinks I'm closed minded. I am an ex addict. Was addicted to opioids...bad. went to rehab, quit cold turkey and have been clean for over 12 years now. The issue is that you have to WANT to be better. He clearly doesn't.
