Don't see why he can't do what Weddle did in the playoffs which really changed our Defense at the perfect time.

Still don't think we win the SB without Weddle.

Yeah, we def don't win without Weddle, but JJ isn't even in the same conversation as him. JJ, when here, was quite good though, hope we get that guy and not the guy who was in Cleveland (he really fell off and didn't want to tackle at all and I don't think you can just blame scheme as it wasn't like they were asking him to play free safety).

Edit: And now that I think of it, he always played best close to the line of scrimmage... wonder if regardless of how Lake is playing, he takes the dime backer role. Perhaps Lake will get a chance to take some of Yeasts snaps in the back end? Regardless, we need four guys who can play between those 3 spots so I guess he's at least the 4th.

Agree that he isn't the same. But it shouldn't be far fetched to expect JJ3 to have a similar responsibility as Weddle did and at least play close to those playoff standards.

Jake Ellenbogen is reliable and had the selections of Stetson Bennett & Warren McClendon well before anyone else. He has a very reliable source within the Rams organization. It's done.
:eyeroll: How about all the other shit he has gotten wrong? Not rocket science to have 20 misses then promote your one hit.

Not especially, maybe over time if he decides to be a bit more of a professional in his reporting and general social media presence. Not saying I don't believe he might have a source but my impression of him is still that of a fan blogger and not a legitimate journalist. Some of the fits he threw this offseason was ridiculous. Surprised anyone in Rams organization would still talk to him after that.

But of those three you mentioned two were kind of no brainers. Stetson was known for a long time before the draft to be a target and JJ3 was at practice yesterday. Not too hard to take a swing on those two. McClendon is a good one if he actually reported that at the point of them being on the clock.

100%! It's amazing how someone gets a few things right after how many years and all of a sudden they are a savant of the LA Rams?

Seems like a good signing.. but, I'm MUCH more worried about getting another edge in. Much more.
We be hurting on the Edge. I know they will trade for or pick up a good vet Edge for next year but it’s going to be painful this year with what they have.

I too would have preferred a quality EDGE ...

In Cleveland the only ones who stand out are the Dog Pound. They’re awesome!

Agreed! Getting to the QB makes everything else easier and would absolutely benefit the DB's. If we can somehow get pressure on the QB I think we can be very competitive

Because Browns.

They played him out of position. He's a box safety. Browns gonna Brown. :dizzy:

I think that's a solid argument but not sure it explains all his play. I'm curious to see what happens with Lake now who seemed to look quite good as a dime-linebacker as I expect that would be JJ's best role. (I suspect that JJ will play split safety and then take the dimebacker role and have Yeast come in as one of the split safeties when we spread out.)

I'm thrilled! This gives us another savvy starter and all of a sudden, our secondary depth looks great now.

I'm so excited for this year! Lets freaking GOOO!!!

Love the signing but my expectations are tempered. With the Rams he was surrounded by quality vets in the backfield, now he’ll be one of the elder statesmen. Not sure what the makeup of the Browns secondary was the last few years but I hope it was just a bad scheme fit for JJ over there. Still, if nothing else his experience and communication skills should help our young DBs.
