No, I'm not clamoring to keep him but how many guys are just gonna walk out the door on defense?

What in the literal fuck is going on...?

You know what I find funny? The fact the Rams are losing all these "valuable guys" and so far, the only 2 who've signed contracts for more than 1 season are Gay and Scott. Mayfield, Long, Gaines and Dixon all inked 1 year deals. Valuable guys, eh? Floyd, Wagner, Hill and Rapp and A'Shawn aren't signed anywhere yet, right?

Feeding the conspiracy theory...Once '24 rolls around and McVay and Snead are rolling around naked in piles of money they can re-sign everybody and win the SB.

Even so - all of them were starters and now we are down to second stringers and possible rookies

That does not give me high hopes for the defense.

Maybe we can make do okay on offense if we can find a couple good OL in the draft and maybe a TE that can block but as I have stated over and over - I am really worried about Stafford

And no one has given me any information or even inkling that Stafford is going to be okay

It feels bleak, but I wasn't impressed enough with our defense to be overly concerned. Let's ride with AD and a bunch of newbies and see where it takes us.

May fortune favor the foolish!!

My biggest concern is the accuracy of the belief our offense will carry us. Hoping our OL and other injuries improve, and hoping we figure out how to best use AR, doesn't seem like a plan that results in the offense powerhouse we're counting on...

Donald (10th yr)
E. Jones (3rd yr)
Fuller (4th yr)
.....all starters.

On DL: B. Brown, E. Brown, L. Murchison all second stringers going into year 4
In secondary: Kendrick, Durant started some and played a lot, Lake and Yeast going into year 2
OLB: Hoecht, going into 3rd yr,
ILB: Rozeboom going into 3rd yr., Hummel going into 2nd yr.

Rookies? We all hope an Edge or 2. A CB and an impact LB in the 4th (if we get a pick there) or 5th would be nice.

Gonna have to depend on some rookies, some 2nd, 3rd and 4th year guys. It's not like it's never been done successfully before.
Hope ain't a plan but worry and doom/gloom ain't solid logic either. In fact the last time I saw this level of worry, doom/gloom was when they passed on Humphrey when we absolutely needed a C. They said, "we think our starting C is already in house" and then they went out and won the SB. I surely ain't predicting that but utter failure? Not expecting that either.

Again still - second stringers that have not proven themselves yet.

And then - where is the depth when the inevitable injuries occur

I just don't see it.

This defense is probably not going to be good

Note - I said probably and not utter failure.

I just won't be surprised if we have a terrible season.

Although I can still hope for a decent year.

Edit - I also have to add - how many games did Fuller play last year and he was also hurt the year before

Floyd and Wagner may be waiting to choose the right team to join so that isn't surprising. Hill is a decent vet so he'll get picked up and so will A'Shawn. Never matters when someone signs with a team to determine their impact, just matters if they are actually any good. Floyd, Wagner, and A'Shawn still have gas left in the tank. Also to address your 1 year contract thing, have you noticed a lot of players (not just our former ones) are signing 1 year deals? Tells me they and their agents are probably expecting a big jump in cap next year with the new TV contracts (aka YouTube getting NFL Ticket)

I think they are basically only keeping a few key pieces and rebuilding everything else. AD on D and Stafford/Kupp on O. If they can hit on some cheap options anywhere else they could make a few big splash signings or trades in 24 and make a last run for Stafford/AD.

Interesting. I like that. Can you imagine a decent season with many youngsters getting experience and developing into solid NFL players, then having an unexpectedly higher cap and a ton of room? But it doesn't help the record this year, unless a little luck befalls the team.

I think that's what we are banking for to do the quick rebuild. Pretty smart way to attack it, but if it works is TBD. Hopefully we get some unexpected (good) players developing plus hit on a few draft picks. No matter the route we choose, they all have their risks for sure. 23 is definitely looking bleak on paper though as far as competing but I'm just tellimg myself to have not have any expectations anymore (cuz I'm trying to ignore the feeling of getting whooped on Sundays lol) for this season and just see what happens.
