Throw the football up in the air... whoever gets it has to run for their life because everybody else is coming to give you what is today considered a 15 yard penalty tackle. Once the guy with the ball is smashed... he throws it up in the air for somebody else to take a turn.

Best played with a large group.

we called it "Kill the carrier"

jumping garbage cans with our bikes. We lived on a big hill that turned down hill into a flat parking lot. We would get as many garbage cans (The old galvanized metal ones) as we could find, build a ramp with a piece of plywood and everyone would get a turn jumping over 5, then 6 then 7 and keep going until only one guy was left, or our rims were too bent to ride anymore.

playing wiffleball we would wrap the bat in electrical tape and put small rocks in the ball itself. every pitch was a knuckball.

last summer a buddy bought a new house. After helping him move we were hanging out drinking and wanted to do something. His Bag boards (corn hole) were at his old house over an hour away and we were in no condition to drive, so walking around in his garage I found a set of Jarts ..the originals..not the crap they sell now. Stole his daughters hula hoops, made a smaller ring out of rope... game was 21...1 point in the big ring...3 in the small ring...win by 2..go over and go back to 11..after a 30 rack a game would last like 2 hours... but we had a ball

We built a 3 story treehouse, and I’m not kidding. That top story was high... and let’s just say... in a much flimsier part of the tree. Lol.

We actually built two (the other was only 2 stories).

We’d shoot bottlerockets between them in game of war. Amazing we never got seriously injured.

Geez, I guess we were monkeys...because we also used to play tag in partly built houses.

We had a subdivision under construction for a couple of years.. the houses that were fully framed, but without drywall, we’d climb around in the rafters and play tag.

Sunday mornings. Walking to the airport with my younger sister to buy Camel Cigs for my dad out out of the machine in the lobby. .25 cents a pack. 2 packs for him and candy bar for my sis and one for myself. I was 8, my sis 7.

Dodgeball in school. Some people thought that it was "targeting" kids, so they banned it. I remember having so much fun in PE during my elementary school days...
My kids in grade school they still play dodgeball

Haha

I remember those cigarette machines. I also remember that some of the coke/soda machines actually had beer included as an option. Everyone was on the honor system back in the day.

I remember all your parents had to do was tell the clerk once that you were buying the cigs for them. Sure wish they would have said that for Playboy magazine.

One of two colors. Green or brown. That was it.

They're lucky, then. My mom's a Special Ed PE teacher, and dodgeball was banned from her schools.

My wife is drawing a blank on where right now, but we know a family that has a kid and his school had banned best friends, because it might make other kids feel bad. That's in northern California somewhere.
