My concern for Goff is injury. At the current drop back rate, he's eventually going to get hurt. He's taking a lot of hits.

I wasn’t saying otherwise. You never know what Bortles might look like with all the weapons we have on offense, and in McVay’s scheme.
Really? Bortles?

He is a back-up QB. Nothing else.

O-line appears to be gelling nicely though, main concern would be his habit of holding the ball too long. I like to see him improve his release mechanics to get the ball out quickly

Hey, you never know what Matt Moore might look like with all the weapons Kansas City has on offense, and in Andy Reid's scheme

Sure we do. A turnover prone inaccurate QB. The American Legend Gardner Minshew is playing with basically the same team Blake had last year and is much more efficient.

Why do you WANT the *backup* QB in there????

Not only was Bortles not a hot commodity in free agency but there's no way Jacksonville lets him go if they thought he could develop into much more than he already was.

He's not the answer to anything.

Just a good backup that could come off the bench and win a few games.
IMO.

The majority of Goffs faults is o-line, lack of running game, and play calling. I'm one to admit I'm super critical of Goff because I never bought his hype, and how he performs vs what he's paid but I can definitely recognize when he's doing the best he can with a bad situation.

He should never been in a position where he has to throw as often as he has been lately.

Goff might be trying to "prove himself" to the multitude of doubters. The bright side, IMO, is he's trying to make plays. There's always a downside to trying too hard to make those plays though. His reads have seemed a little slow but that's coming from a guy sitting in the seats with a beer in his hand.

I think its possible we are missing some of the offensive minds we have had in the building.... and I think McVay is experimenting with giving his assistant coaches some measure of input in the game plans.
Our scripted plays to start the game have been less than exciting. We have done almost nothing on our first drive all season. Why is that? What can they do differently?

Yep, that settles it, McVay should go with Blake Bortles instead of Jared Goff against the 49ers.

Just another example of fans putting way too much focus on the quarterback for wins/losses.

This, more than anything, is my worry regarding Goff. I have no doubt once the OL gels and the running game gets going, he'll be right back to where he was last year, if not better - especially if McVay starts using the TEs as a weapon as he did last game.

Jared has gone through a rough patch, but he hasn't had much help, and he more than anyone else has kept us in the games we lost.

Tony Banks won a super bowl with the Ravens...

I was just saying that it’s something that could be considered. Not that Bortles is the best QB on the roster.

If Goff shits the bed against the Whiners this week then what?

Don't think too much man, you might hurt yourself.

The only way bortles makes it out on the field is during a blowout or injury.

Its a combo of playing some really good teams in some tough environments like.... @ Chicago in 20 deg weather, @ New Orleans in that noisy dome and again at home, @ Seattle on a short week, even @ Cleveland, @ Carolina are teams with good D's on the road. Then the Cowboys, where they were able to win it with the run game. And of course New England in the SB, just look at what their D is continuing to do.

So really not a lot of gimmie type games there and a number of good defenses & playoff teams.

Then add the factor of the offense is a little stale and predictable. McVay needs to adjust and tweek a few things.

Then you have the Gurley and OL inconsistencies.

So we have a lot of factors here and I would say the majority of it is not a Goff issue.
