Problems IMO..

#1. The OL isn't that good. We invested too much money in skill players and not enough up front...

#2. We haven't adjusted to other teams adjusting to us. I was encourage that we ran more last week BETWEEN the tackles. We can't keep trying to run outside - teams are onto it. We need to pound it up the gut especially with 7 man fronts. Get thru that front 7 and we could rip off some big runs which will force the D to adjust their alignment...

#3. Teams aren't scared of anyone on the D minus Donald. Peters still hasn't learned to play him man instead of gambling all the time, our LB crew is still weak etc.

#4. Goff doesn't see wide open receivers and he fumbles too much (he holds onto the ball - to his credit he's trying to make a play but - plus he has small hands which you can do nothing about...) etc. His play has dropped as others have pointed out but IMO it has more to do with piss poor play calling (not running enough) and lack of support up front...

We have serious issues facing this team. IMO I don't think we have enough talent up front, on both sides of the ball, to compete this season against the better teams in the league...

I'm worried more about McVay's game planning and in-game adjustments. When your offense relies heavily on play-action but abandons the run game too early, it's gonna be a long, uphill climb.

Gotta throw in some new wrinkles - maybe get away from 11-personnel groupings from time to time (maybe have Everett line up as a FB once in a while). Also, maybe go up-tempo on the opening offensive series (have the Rams scored a 1st Quarter TD yet this year?)

Totally agree on running it up the gut - especially when Malcolm Brown is toting the rock. He doesn't have Gurley's speed to the edge; he's more like a bulldozer.

I was just saying that it’s something that could be considered. Not that Bortles is the best QB on the roster.

If Goff shits the bed against the Whiners this week then what?
Then nothing.
Keep moving forward.
Bortles offers nothing.
There is no commitment to Bortles nor should there be.

Can you go back and tell me how many of those ints were caught off the hands of our receivers ? Or how many throws were made with defenders in his face

A lot of our problems this year have stemmed from lack of running game Gurley isn’t getting done the online isn’t getting it done

As much as I love the dude Gurley is really starting to boil my piss .. he hasn’t looked like he has wanted it since the cowboys game .. maybe it’s because he physically isn’t the same and mentally he has all but checked out (remember the give it back comment in a presser in regards to his contract )

online is missing saffold something fierce maybe boom and Allen aren’t up to the job .. maybe we need to get some first round talent on our o line ...look at all the gems we find in later rounds imagine what we can do with a first rounder .. id give my left nut for nelson from the colts

Not emotional at all. I have presented nothing but facts. My eyes also tell me I should be concerned. I thought after a couple of weeks the rust would be off as he didn’t play in the preseason.
Like I said earlier, I’m saying he is a bust or a bum, he is just struggling and not playing like he did the first half of last year and year before. My eyes tell me that as well as the numbers

I understand where you are coming from Boston. In the past when I thought Goff made a bad throw or two I would have doubts. Then he would throw a strike on 3rd and 10 or more for a big first down. Many times that would lead to a score. Then my doubts subsided.

Now, with all the other things on offense not working as smoothly Goff isn't making as many of those throws. It really shows more early in games where the Rams aren't running the ball. Tighter coverage, Goff being confused with zone defenses, some dropped passes and poor pass protection all seem to contribute to lower stats for Goff. Most of the INTs are not all fault. Brady fumbled for 6 to the Giants.

Goff is still making great throws. He also is making some bad throws to open WRs and questionable decisions. He might be a little in his own head. He just signed the big contract and let's face it some media/fans think he isn't worth it. The blocking and running aren't the same which is putting more pressure on Goff. I'm concerned with the entire Rams offense and defense. The Rams and McVay need to start games better. Every player has to pick up his game. That includes Goff. I've learned to not underestimate Goff. Let's see what he and the Rams do this week because it's Niner Week!

Like I tried to explain but some don’t want to hear that part I’m still a huge Goff fan! I root for him every week and will continue to.

He is in his 4th year, 3rd with the same system. Would like to see him progress and that includes performing with questionable line play, no Gurley, no Kupp and over come it.

But as you point out it’s not just Goff it’s McVay and the entire team that need to play better.

The good news is they are winning and have time to fix things.

It is hopefully and likely a blip in his career, but I do have concerns and hope he works through them soon.

This weekend would be a great time for Goff to shut up a holes like me

Goff is way down on my list of things to be worried about . Gurley is now on top a notch above the porous defense.

McVay might be abandoning the run early because he senses (with this interior OL) we can't run it.

Having said that I'd love for us to go off for 275 yards on the ground Sunday. That'd make all right with the world.

Just come out passing the ball. Take them out of the D that everyone is using to stop us. Pass over the middle and down the seems to the TEs. To Kupp. Make them stop something new and then hit them with the run and screens. If we come out and run on the first play and it is into that 6 man front I am going to start wondering if we have a genius after all.

Let's come back to this thread with some honest evaluations of Goff's play this week.

The thing is we can't evaluate Goff in a vacuum. Goff can't block, run, catch the ball or call the plays. He is not a QB like Wilson who can run around to avoid pressure or like Big Ben who can fend off tacklers with his size and make plays. Goff can move around in the pocket but, not if pressure is coming up the middle and from the edges at the same time.

Side note I would really like to see a clock on the screen showing the time to throw/release time to see how long Goff has and how long he is holding the ball.

We have to see if the Rams can stay ahead of the chains. The offensive line has committed a lot of penalties which have made it difficult to get in a rhythm. It also is putting them behind the chains. That is making Goff's job so much harder. Against the Whiners defensive line being in 3rd and long will make it hard for Goff.

Losing Gurley this week puts more focus on Goff to make plays. When Goff gets his chances to make plays he has to make them. He has to be quicker with his reads and delivery. Hopefully, McVay calls quicker plays and keeps the Whiners defense off balance to help Goff.

I'm in for the Goff evaluation.
