How would yall feel about Todd Bowles as a DC? To me he’s the embodiment of “tremendous coordinator/below average head coach”. And the chances of him getting a third shot at a head coaching job seem slim. He’s someone that could be in the job for several years. Something to consider if we lose Shula.

Bowles is an excellent DC, would love to have him. Not sure he's getting canned though.

The one advantage to the bottom completely dropping out on this defense is that we shouldn't lose Shula. So hoping he sticks around and we get him some MFing players who can cover this offseason instead.

Players matter. Expecting him to prove to you he's special with that steaming pile of shit we call a corner room... Rather meaningless.

Great coaches elevate players. That defense that brought down the 2001 Rams wasn't exactly littered with all stars and future HoFers.

Nonsense take as it pertains to this secondary. They've been making due with scrubs. Spoon is marginal as fuck and he's probably our best corner.

This staff and McVay has and does elevate players every year. But coaching can only do so much.

The defense has played very poorly down the stretch. We all look at special teams but the main reason we're fading is the defense. Giving up 10 more points per game the past 5 or 6 games. Holes opened up in the run game. Poor tackling. Wide open receivers running free through the secondary. Are teams gonna look at how badly Shula's defense has played? Or will they just consider the McVay effect?

Shula lacks the aggressive mentality I like in my DC.

I’d take Bowles for sure.

I like my DC to be little psycho and able to call a cover 0 for no apparent reason

I need the opposing QB jittery and seeing ghosts. I want my defense living in his head before, during and after the game.

Why not elevate Aubrey Pleasant to DC?

Absolutely not. I'd go with Pleasant first.
I was on board the Pleasant back in 2021 but not so sure anymore. McVay has passed him up several times now and gotten fired by the Lions. Now, that might not matter and McVay might finally give him his shot. But I'm wondering if he is a life time position coach at this point.

I won't say never but I would say it is highly unlikely McVay will ever want a defense called like that.

To me the real benefit for Bowles over someone from within the system is that you likely won’t have to replace Bowles even if he has multiple seasons as the leagues best DC . Andy Reid lucked into having the same situation with Spags. You could really build some continuity on that side of the ball.

Most teams are searching for offense minded head coaches.

Additionally, I am not sure his resume is long enough to get a HC gig already.
