Surprised we're spending that much with Ferg and Parkinson passing him on the depth chart.

That much? I dont think thats too much for a TE3, who if healthy is still a force in this League.
I think this deal, with the low money involved is completely independent of Drafting Sadiq, IMO.
It’s 4M/year max - so likely some incentives in there for him to have to get that 4M. So maybe 1-2M less base. Doubt 2nd year is guaranteed
I think they let us know they aren't drafting a te high in the draft.

Actually a compliment and faith in Ferguson, this is TE3 money, Ferguson is either 1 or 2.

Ehh doubt they’d use the 13th pick to draft a TE who’d probably, at least start out, as the 4th TE on your depth chart.
To me this signals they’re going in a different direction.

The logic is probably, if you want to run 3 TE sets, you need to be 4 deep, to account for injuries at any given time. Higbee, Ferguson, Parkinson, and Allen allow us to do that. They probably felt Higbee at 4M per year (or however the money is structured) was a fair price. Which it is for what he brings. Just a bit surprising they contributed that much money to the TE room given what Parkinson is already making. They must really like the versatility of being able to run that scheme when they think it matches up well. I like the mix of 2 vets with 2 younger TEs. This team is Super Bowl ready. They probably didn't want 3 younger players at the position if they got their 4th TE via the draft. Particularly as younger TEs often take time to develop. Any other free agent TE worth pursuing would cost this much or more. And not be proven to work in this system.
4 million or so cap hit, for a 10-year Ram who's always been good for us. No good?
If the 13 personnel stuff is a real philosophical change, then I suppose it makes sense.
They most likely are, i just challenge the point this is a direct signal. Sadiq gets drafted, Higs and Allen can fight it out for TE4.
But you're right, i would bet against Sadiq too.
Depends on how much $$ is guaranteed. But first impression is they have the 4 TEs they want for 2026. No “Sadiq the Freak”.
I can't imagine that. Ferguson started the year injured and had a massive amount of big play catches.
