I'm here for it. Great locker room guy for us too.

I almost wonder if we will try to fill every roster hole in FA and potentially trade up in the first round for a player they love....I could see it this year.

Downs, Love, Tate, Styles

During his last interview, McVay said something about never wanting to “reach for a need in the draft” or something to that effect.

I do not think they’ll trade up personally, but it would be a god send if any of the players you mentioned dropped to us. Especially Styles, I think he’ll be special.

Not saying that Higs isn't showing some mileage, but in all fairness, he was out for a long stretch due mostly to that shot in the knee by that puke Kerby Joseph during the Lions playoff game in '24.
Absolutely True
Yeah, it's probably an incentive laden contract ......... like you have to be on the game day active roster to get paid, though.
Hope so.

Why? He's toast. The Rams only had 27 mil in cap space. They will have to extend McDuffie and the signed higbee. Not much left after that.
Dwill cut releases $7.5m. Not sure who or how but they could restructure some contracts like DAdams or Shelton or get creative with Staffords contract for some more cap space.

I think people aren't taking into account how dramatically the cap has increased recently.

Comparatively, this is a cheap deal for a great teacher and locker room guy who can still explode every once in a while. (For example, vs Arizona, 5 catches 91 yards and a TD)

NFL Salary Cap over past 9 years:

2026 - $301.2M2025 - $279.2M2024 - $255.4M2023 - $224.8M2022 - $208.2M2021 - $182.5M2020 - $198.2M2019 - $188.2M2018 - $177.2M

Edit: IMO, This offseason is already starting to have echoes of 2021. Back then everyone kept asking how Rams kept signing more and more players and repeatedly going "all in." Rams are in it to win it for 2026. They'll do some accounting tricks to make sure we are LOADED for the coming season.

I think they let us know they aren't drafting a te high in the draft.

I can say with confidence there's no guaranteed money year two of that contract. Higs is great depth at this point and a great teacher. Ill take it
Totally agree and love that this signals they won't take a TE high. I think we need more of an impact player than say Sadiq at 13. I think they are better off drafting a TE with the tools later in the draft.

Stop worrying about the damn money, it not your money. Let’s see how everything plays out before we start complaining about the cap or lack there of.
Man its Murica, we always worry about the monies!

I thought it was time to move-on.

See Higbee as no more than the 3rd TE; and a $4M cap hit for a third-TE seems a little high.

But ... McVay and Snead refuse to take my calls.
Its an overpay! Sorry couldn't resist :laugh4: ...... I'll wait to see how the contract numbers truly break down as I got to imagine as many others have said that there's got to be heavy incentives in there.

To me, that definitely seems like a plan that could come to life. Rams are in a win now mode and we need impact players to get back to the promise land.

I'm glad he's back. I like Higs. And this doesn't stop the Rams from taking a TE if one lines up for them. Nor does it stop them from cutting Higs if they need to. But he's one of those character players for me, just like having him around. Also I like that he has always made reasonable money and never got full of himself or pushed for the big payday and it's why he might retire in horns.

And that's always really cool man. Hope that's how it goes with him.

Higbee is most definitely a Ram for life. He's gonna retire before he puts on another uniform. Love to see those solid glue guys play under the Horns their whole career.
