Problem with Wentz is he plays hero ball. Rarely will he give up on a play.

that's because he can't deliver the pass on time or accurately. how many open guys has he missed over the years? but when he escapes under pressure he always seems to hit the wr, and these are the plays that make it to the highlights and that's why everyone thinks he's so good.

goff generally makes the play which is called. if it's not there he throws it away. thus game manager in many people's eyes.

imagine mcvay watching wentz miss the simplest of throws continuously or not going to the right guy on time. he'd go mental.

Agreed. Eagles need a Reggie Scott to maybe cut down on all those injuries.

Anyway, methinks if we could see how things would look if Wentz & Goff could magically change places, this might not even be up for debate.
Yeah, remember Wentz first year with that coaching staff, great D and great running game, how good he looked and how bad Goff looked in the Jr High school offense? I remember saying if Goff had that team and Wentz had ours Goff would be the one everyone was drooling over. No one would buy it from the Wentz camp. We should have got Wentz. Goff is a Goof. Oh well. It worked out for Goff, and us.

I liked Goff because of his footwork and stride on his release. He was also much more accurate on his long passes.

I have gotten to watch both of them. Wentz has been interesting to evaluate. He is simply not consistent. He is up and down a lot. He gets into some bad habits with his delivery missing high as he did in the second half against Washington this past game. At times he has become much better on long balls only to regress. He does make some amazing plays. He is so strong and uses that to escape the pass rush. That could be his downfall as he gets hurt trying to extend plays and make things happen. He doesn't know when to give up. That leads to getting hurt a lot. Just when you think he is average he strings together some great games. He is hard to count out.

We all know what Goff can do when he has time and a clean pocket. He makes some amazing throws like the one to Jefferson down the sideline against Dallas on the past SNF game. Under pressure, he can make some bad looking throws. Some of these throws have very bad results. Sometimes he makes a bad throw without being pressured. For the most part, Goff is reliable and accurate. Goff has always had a good ability to navigate the pocket but, is not a scambler. He did work on his foot speed in this past offseason. That could help him be a little more elusive. Goff stays healthy ready to start each week.

Goff and Wentz have similar starting records and stats after their first four seasons. At the moment Goff started the 2020 season with a good game. Wentz had the opposite results in his season-opening loss to the Washington Football Team. That doesn't mean anything when the two lead their teams against each other this coming week. Should be fun to watch this one play out.

Where's LACHAMP46 and his hot takes when you need em?
He and almost everybody else left ShitShowTimes (turfshowtimes for those that don't know) when they handed it over to a Seahawks fan to run.

When it comes to these type of heated discussions,
I always chose the middle answer.

runnin qbs have a really short shelf life, dont need or want one
train

There are exceptions... Wilson and Mahomes and maybe Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray, but they're the exception to the rule.

Problem with Wentz is he plays hero ball. Rarely will he give up on a play. Reminds me of Warner after teams caught up with the GSOT and guys were not as open. He would hold the ball too long and started getting hurt, concussed, fumbled etc..

Wentz leads the league in fumbles the last few yrs and of course he gets hurt as he leaves himself open to a lot of hits.
You nailed it. Hero Ball is a perfect name for it when I watch him. Foles won that SB because he stayed true to the system and went through his reads. Wentz is like Favre without the arm talent. He was throwing shit all over the field for most of the game on Sunday.

I agree that both are good, but I won't kid myself into not seeing that Goff has been in a much better situation with his weapons during his NFL career.
I disagree.

I thought then and now that Goff was the better QB, but I just didn't have faith that they'd fire Fisher...ever. With an offensive mind like Asshole Face, Goff would thrive.

And Wentz would be better at playing in that BS Fisher offense.

Well, we saw Goff suck in Fisher's O and then blossom under McVay.

System matters.

I dunno, Wentz has had two all-pro OTs, an all-pro OC and all-pro RG.

An all-pro TE and now a very good #2 TE. Has had a good running game and very good defense supporting him.

Also had Alshon Jeffery in previous yrs.

Plus a good offensive minded head coach who people here tell me is superior to McVay... I mean he beat him twice.

Goff knows he is a pocket passer. Wentz is also but has yet to figure that out.

I got 3 out of 4....

No cheating by usin’ the internets...
It's also part of that tweet if you open it :) But yeah I got them.

That was Goff's stats at Saints for the NFC Championship. Can you ask for more? Rolling into that environment, with the Superbowl on the line, with that performance...Goff is a fucking stud. Our lineman couldn't even hear each other it was so loud.

I don't see Wentz making it through that. Nope...don't see it!

When a die hard Eagles fan rips his jersey off and has had enough of the excuses and mistakes, I just thank the Football Gods it wasn't us Rams fans again!
The taking of Goff over Wince (I wince when I watch him play now), unknown to us at the time, would be the perfect match for some 30 year old whippersnapper coach that would bring back glory and relevance to the Rams. Other than the Chiefs and Ravens, the other 29 teams are shaking their heads about the Rams absolutely astonishing, off the chart, crazy good luck with these two major selections. The coach and the QB. These are absolute grand slams. In fact, the McVay hire will forever be a thing of legend. Very happy with Goff.

All-Pro or Popularity Contest Pro Bowl?
Kelce has 3 All-Pro awards and Lane Johnson has one, but that's all I could find while Wentz has been at the helm. And their Olinemen can't stay healthy for some reason. Whitworth and Saffold (2nd team I think) got one too.

Besides, I said weapons. Robert Woods, Todd Gurley, Cooper Kupp, Brandon Cooks, Sammy Watkins, Tyler Higbee (who always had the skills, but just started being used last year). That's pretty strong compared to Wentz's weapons over the years.

A lot of the talk this week was about Wentz playing hero ball, trying to save a play that has broken down. That’s how you get sacked 8 times. Goff has never had the ability to spin out of a sack and take off for 20 yds so it’s not even in his mind (most of the time anyway).

are these the talking heads saying this?

that's the exact same reason they were fawning over him the last few years. off schedule plays were all the rage for talking heads. now because it didn't work they're calling it hero ball?

freaking morons.

Brandon Brooks, Jason Peter, Lane Johnson, and Jason Kelce are better than anything Goff has had as a group. Please.

Weapons don't mean a damn if they ate not blocked for. That's football101.

And you failed to mention Ertz & Goedert. I would consider them great weapons.
