@Ramrasta is back down in Mexico with his in-laws again. His Father-in-law just sent me this pic of him with this giant fried mojarra lunch that was just put in front of him. Meanwhile, my lame ass was about to head over to Jersey Mike's for my lunch... I'm no longer all that excited about getting a sub now.

You've never had fry fish? It's amazing if done right. I've had it in Mexico and the Bahamas. It's a staple in good Thai restaurants. My favorite Chinese restaurant here does a whole fried flounder that is awesome. The fins are like fish flavored chips. It comes with a really savory dipping sauce. Seriously some good eats. You really owe it to yourself to try it.

As one that grew up in New England - I never saw Mexican food until the mid 70's, while in the Navy... The only fish I was aware of that was cooked whole, were lobsters, clams and oysters.... :woozy2:

Leaves more for me. LOL

Not sure why you might not wanna try it if it's prepared that way. Could be a number of reasons.

The skin and fins are like crispy treats. Hell... I'll eat the eyes but I'm not gonna try to explain that part.

Whole fried fish adds lots of flavor. Kinda like other meats cooked with the bone in. It does make eating it more of a challenge, but it's totally worth it because of the taste. There is much more to enjoy than just the filets. Some people even enjoy the smaller bones and the fluids inside the bigger ones and the spinal "stuff". But that is a result of cultures opening doors that are closed to many.

Trust me though... the flavors created from frying a whole fish (gutted and gilled obviously) are so much more better than just cooking the meat.

Went to the Ritz for lunch today.

A small selection; from top to bottom- langoustine à la nage, beef Wellington, crêpes Suzette.

Wow...

Is there anything inside those crepes, and what is that sauce on top of them?

Man, that langoustino dish looks killer!

I screwed up last night and left my phone in the whip because I valet parked at a kickass restaurant here called Christner's Prime Steak and Lobster (Orlando). Took the wife there for her birthday. Also took @Ramrasta and his beautiful wife who is carrying our soon to be a new strong member of The Ramily too... had to make sure that HE had his 1st taste of Prime Steak.

I could have shared some pics to make everyone hungery like yours as Christner's does it up very nice. One in particular would have been the giant cold water Australian lobster tail that they split up for us at the table. The super thick tomahawk pork chop would have been cool too because it looked like something Fred Flintstone would have on his plate. If anyone is ever in O-Town a vacation looking for fine dining... this is a place locals have been going to forever and it's not in the tourist area. It's like 9:45 in the morning here now and I'm still full from all the food we grabbed down.

We're down in the Keys catching and eating right now. Here's T and some bugs... it only took us about an hour to nab these. My wife and T got in the water while I protected my rum drink... I mean put em on the bugs and drove the boat.

So a before...

Seas were not nice yesterday but we ran out and caught some dolphin anyway. Got more than we needed for tacos and came right back to the house to chow.

We caught some yellow tail snapper. So a little over 2 hours ago I finished turning some into this big dish of ceviche. I fresh squeezed oranges, limes, and lemons and sliced up everything else in there... stuck it in the cooler and went straight to bed. Woke up just now because I was dreaming about it. I had to go eat a crap load of it and test it for poison. Here's what's left.

We'll probably finish it off for breakfast in the morning.

It's like a highly addictive drug when done right. The key... make it with fish that you just caught that day.

And just to be clear on the green stuff you see in there. There are NO green bell peppers in it because they are kinda gross to me. There are 3 green ingredients though...
Fresh cilantro, jalapeños, and poblano peppers chopped into tiny pieces to add a crunch.

I do add orange and yellow bells though as well as onion and tomatoes.

The fresh squeezed citrus juices are also key. I literally drink it out of the bowl. It's like Red Bull on roids. It makes me feel like AD for about 30 minutes after drinking some.

I’m the same way.
When I get it, I usually eat way more than I need.

I’m the same way with Green Bell peppers.
I don’t buy them….ever.
I always substitute green bell peppers with poblanos or Anaheim chilies.

I love red bell peppers though.
