Well, I had a taco salad today that hooked into a 50 year old food memory.

Waaaaay back when I was a young kid in Whittier, CA, there was an independent taco shop. And they served the food memory that this taco salad triggered. Thousand Island dressing over taco meat. Stick with me, because I never would pair those different flavors together, until today. That long ago taco shop, served a taco meat burger called the California Burger. I've never tasted anything like it, and now I know the secret sauce back then was thousand island dressing!

You never tried to add thousand island to a taco to mimic it?

Sounds like something worth trying. Is it as simple as a drizzle over the meat?

That is all I did. I wasn't trying to mimic the California burger because I figured the recipe was long lost by now, well before the internet age. It gives the meat a sweet flavor and I look forward to do it again next time!. We went to this small independent taco shop for many years and I always asked my Mom for this taco burger....

@CGI_Ram , I found my burger in a different shape than my burger, but this is really close to the California burger, of which I spoke. Take a look, there is a video on how it's made and it looks really good too.

That is fine dining right there Brudda! Your cousins did you right.

My brother got married in Charleston and that is exactly what he served at the wedding.

Just showed this pic to my friends from the UK who stopped by my office. They have eaten at Claridge’s many times so they really got a kick out of seeing this pic and the others you posted.

They are a married couple who are both from the UK and their families all still live there. They bring me all kinds of food from England to try. I like trying foods from everywhere. I'm sure I posted some pics in this thread of some of the English stuff they've brought over for me to try.

They stopped in to see me this morning because one of them is going to have heart surgery next Friday. Your pics made their day since it got their minds off of the surgery for a few minutes. Good stuff.

I watched this at work last night and thought I would dedicate the Hawaiian dog to @RamFan503. I think you will appreciate the near mayhem when he tries to de-core a pineapple with a power tool.

Funny. All I could think of was "SHARPEN YOUR FUCKING KNIVES!!!" I've made a variation of that Hawaiian and the Pastrami looked pretty tasty. Not to sure about the guac dog. I just don't know about the combination. Seems like it would be great with a spicy beef.

And no. I don't picture myself trying that drill technique. Certainly not with a spade bit.:sunglasses:

So this was pretty tasty.

I seasoned some fresh Ahi with my Pig Feathers Steak Seasoning, seared it in avocado oil, and added some nice asparagus spears and sliced mango.

Because everything was in season, this meal was about $15 for two.

Really tasty, healthy, and VERY affordable.
