That is kind of an interesting hypothesis, though unlikely, I'd love it. That said, the draft has been pretty depressing the last few years when we don't have a first rounder. We'd probably be giving up our next 4 for Watson. I guess if we could get away with that, find a taker for Goff, and manage to upgrade at Center, we'd look pretty damn good for next year.

If we can trade for Watson and still retain Woods and Kupp, we’re gonna be favorites to win the NFC.

Not to rain on everyone's parade, but here is a look at Watson's cap numbers going forward. Next year isn't bad, but after that ... wow.

Salary cap number: 2021-$15.9 million, 2022-$40.4 million, 2023-$42.4 million, 2024-$34.7 million, 2025-$32 million

But I’ll presume for now that I’m seeing accurately. If I am, the Rams are already targeting Watson heavily and I think all this “Watson wants to go to NY” is garbage from the Texans because why would Watson want to go from one dumpster fire of an owner to another? Same with Miami...

This is exactly what I've been saying. Forget about the draft capital, Watson has to approve any trade destination. Why in the hell would he want to go to a Jets franchise with no talent and a terrible FO?? That made no sense when I heard it, I didn't believe it. He's on a Houston team with no talent right now. Miami I think has a decent shot, but I seriously think we do too.

If you read the tea leaves with the timing of everything.. the trade requests from Watson and all the Goff comments from us, they do kind of fit. Throw in the Ramsey campaigning for DeShaun on Instagram. And I didn't even know they had the same agent but that is HUGE. He has already worked with Snead 2 years ago in bringing a superstar to LA. Why wouldn't DeShaun want to come to LA??

Only thing left is him and his agent forcing his hand with Houston, which wont be easy but it's doable.

I would definitely be for this if you have an offensive guru who you believe in his system and develop QBs. Treat it almost like a RB -- drafting a new one each year using non-1st round pick to do so. Occasionally a 2nd (Akers), one year a 3rd (Hendo), one year a 7th / UDFA, etc. Develop them each year and best one plays. Occasionally you hit on a couple and trade one to recoup extra picks. But no huge, LT extensions. Hope to get a good one on a good extension before he truly goes off; but if not then trade him in that last year for extra picks and move onto next guy. Trusting your development and system. Thus, enabling you to have $$$ spent on a top OL; as well as defense, WRs, etc.

That was something Snisher was against and therefore addressed the position when in need only.Les Snead was quoted saying there is only one football. If true The Rams need a QB who can at least move the chains with his feet.
Just thinking about a speed WR & at least a QB who can put extra pressure on defenses.Jared Goff I always dream can become more like Brady or Phillip Rivers.Drew Bree’s and Aaron Rodgers can move the chains when needed.
Jared Goff instead of worry about his ugly left handed Golf Swing,he should be trying to work on his foot speed.

Did Watson state this or was this in reference to a post that Watson wants to go to the Jets b/c he supposedly likes Saleh?

There are issues with that report is all I’m saying.

It was kind of rescinded today like it was eronious. At the same time Saleh has been saying and is saying he loves Darnold. Could be posturing but they did say that the guy that posted that may have been ill informed. Even hearing the stuff today ...if your Watson and complaining about Houston and there squad even with the jets having picks cap and some good young players but that takes time.

Last thing I heard today was the reason Watson "wants" NY is because his wife wants to act???? Hmmm I love NY and it has its fair share of Hollywood but where is the better shot??? Lol perhaps the real Hollywood lol. Just saying. All this stuff is just fodder but help get the mind wandering.

Wow if this is true, this is another big plus for LA. There's no way Watson will go to the Jets shit team and shit franchise. I just dont believe it. And throw in Watson's agent is the same agent Ramsey has, and he's already orchestrated a trade to LA.

To me Watson wants a big market, and Miami or LA seem to both fit. But if his wife (who is gorgeous btw) wants to act... LA does seem to be the choice right!? :hope:

I’m on my phone, but I’ll try.

Rams may have known about this trade request as it happened which was WEEKS AGO. This did not come today.

Ramsey and Watson share an agent.

Also, the timeline with McVay starting to no longer talk up Goff aligns almost exactly with the actual date of the trade request.

So maybe that source of Stephen A Smith’s is legit and the Rams were ALREADY putting together a package even as they were in the playoffs.

I dunno if I’m seeing an obvious pattern here or if I’m going all Nash (A Beautiful Mind) here.

But I’ll presume for now that I’m seeing accurately. If I am, the Rams are already targeting Watson heavily and I think all this “Watson wants to go to NY” is garbage from the Texans because why would Watson want to go from one dumpster fire of an owner to another? Same with Miami...

I just think too many things are lining up for the Rams to be wallflowers in all this.

Exactly factor in his girl and her aspirations the endorsements and if fans are coming back that's the official opening of so-fi what better splash to make and the Superbowl being held there. No offense to Wolford who I really like say he is the starter does that excite and creat the buzz around so-fi??? And don't think for one second guys that NFL wouldn't want this. They (owners) want money desperately. Watson does that. Akers is not gurley yet. Donald and Ramsey of course but the qb is the face that runs the place. I feel all the positive talk is starting to make us will this into happening lol. Or we could end up with Trubinsky lmao!!!

Y’all need to stop connecting these dots about the Rams getting Watson. I resigned myself to the “no way we’re getting him” mentality. Now you’re starting to convince me to get my hopes up :helmet::explode::49er:

Where the Rams have an advantage over many other orgs is their ability to focus in on the traits they want at different positions in the draft. They don't have the picks or the cap space to play in this scenario because they chose their guys already and paid them. So even with all this Goff bullshit going on the fact hasn't changed that they're going to need to draft better than everyone else once again to stay where they are. And that's really hard to sustain. Especially when you need a QB on top of all that.

I expect they'll sniff these options and pull out when they find the bouquet to be more than they can handle. And they'll settle on some option that few here are gonna like. The ones people already hate like Minshew, maybe Darnold if other teams like SF and NO don't swoop in and drive the price up, etc.

2021 will be a ground control offense with a rebuilt OL that takes shots deep. Expecting more than that is not realistic IMO. Schematically McVay is a trend setter so as I have mentioned before I see him introducing heavy RPO elements and called QB runs and his QB corps will be a lineup of RPO types who are agressive and hyper competitive.

It was no mistake he tried to hire Kingsbury. That wasn't just a friend thing. I think McVay has been thinking about this for a while now. Look at our roster at the QB position now. You have 3x guys who can RPO and fit what I'm talking about. This is where it's going so buckle up. :beer2:
You could be right. If so we will be sure to give you a shoutout. But we will see.

Appreciate it but I don't care about shoutouts. I throw so much shit out there that some of it will inevitably stick.

And re: what is coming IMO that has been staring the NFL in the face for a while now. I'm kind of surprised it hasn't happened yet these contracts are stupid man. I just cannot get my head around paying QBs that much of the cap. It feels bad to me always has.

What has driven the QB market is guys who have mastered modern offenses. But there's only a handful of guys who really have mastered it and a bunch of dudes who are riding their coattails IMO. The thing I'm most angry about with the Rams right now is that they paid Goff early. Not sure what would have happened if they told him he was gonna have to wait though that might have been uglier than this shit lol.

I thought the same thing about the Ramsey discussion only to see we actually traded for him. I have not doubt that the Rams are inquiring about the possibility of a trade. I also have no doubt that the Texans are asking for Donald currently lol

We need to help will it into existence! Time to get back on the train.

What would Goff, Kupp, 2021 2nd and 3rd, 2022 1st, 2023 1st get us?

That's along the lines of what I think it will cost. ~three 1st rounders, a second or mid round pick, plus a player. But if we trade Goff to a different team ahead of time and get more than a 1st, then we can turn around and offer those picks for Watson.

Even if Watson wanted to come here... I'm having trouble seeing how we could compete bidding wise.

We don't have to be the best bid we just have to be where Watson wants to come via his trade clause. He is already willing himself out of Houston.

Only thing left is him and his agent forcing his hand with Houston, which wont be easy but it's doable.

The key factors of course are whether Watson can in fact force a trade and if so where he wants to go.

It seems likely to me that he can force a trade. It's bad mojo on every level of rebuilding and fan support for Houston to force a really disgruntled star to stay.

If so, Watson is in the driver's seat about where he goes (unless there are unusual terms in his no-trade clause). A deal would still have to involve players or draft picks that work for Houston. But the result might be that Houston might need to accept a high value but not crazy or perfect trade and make the best of it.

Bottom line: IF Watkins were to insist on a trade to the Rams imo it could actually happen. I think the Rams could come up with enough to get it done if they can trade Goff to Houston or to a third party as part of the deal.

Not accurate at all I'm surprised Klein was that bad.

2022 $35 million
2023 $37 million
2024 and 2025 $32 million

He's saying the team trading for him owes the signing bonus which the Texans would have to pay when they trade him (on their books it's already paid).
