Nick Bolton. Just...Nick Bolton. I wanted him over Atwell in his draft year because he was one of the best linebackers Mizzou's had, and he's significantly improved in the NFL.

I love Speights, and I love how Rozeboom's improved, but if you asked me to replace Rozeboom with Bolton, I'd do it in a fucking heartbeat.
Bolton would be a nice addition. He'd fill a large hole, and I don't think he'll be crazy expensive. It would be smart to sign him. He wouldn't be replacing Rozeboom, though. We need a speedy ILB next to Bolton. (Although, I'm certainly okay with us replacing Rozeboom. His missed tackles drive me crazy.)

The Rams have drafted a ton of talent in the last 2-3 years. They won’t all get a second contract, but if the Rams want to sign as many as they deem worthy, they’re gonna need a QB on a rookie deal. The more the Rams spend on a QB, the fewer young players get re-signed.

…and the vikings have a window just like anybody else. Why wouldn’t they want darnold back? After the year he had in the koc offense? They still might be the #1 seed.

No, darnold to the Rams doesn’t make a whole lotta sense for either team at this time.

Garoppolo is a UFA after the season. Not sure if he's a 1 and done like Wentz
It seems like a logical move if he plays well this weekend. Also, it sounds like he fit in very well with the team/coaches and he fits the offense. He may not be ideal, but I doubt they get an ideal fit in their situation.

Russini reported that the Vikings want Darnold back and will try to sign him. As good as he’s been, does he return to being closer to his old form with another coach not named Kevin o’Connel and a team with fewer/lesser weapons?

From his standpoint, I’d think one more year with the Vikings would be appealing, to build his stock better and have a shot at a Super Borl, unless someone offered him a multi year deal this winter, which may not happen after only one very good season out of seven.

Stafford’s strange contract negotiations this summer combined with his overall drop in performance this year does feel like retirement may be in the cards.

I still think the Rams should go after Zach Wilson this offseason.

He could be the next Sam Darnold, Geno Smith former Jet turnaround given the dysfunction in the organization. Or at the least a Kellen Clemens like stop gap in case this is it for Stafford.

I suggested this before also. Some pointed out to me that LaFleur worked with Wilson in NY. If he felt he had some untapped potential, then he’d likely have pushed McVay to go after him.

LaFleur may have pushed for him. But, I can see why it may have made more sense in the immediate to add an experienced Garappolo instead after the Rypien disaster. And there was probably no chance Snead was going to give up on Stetson Bennett so soon.

Starting with this post My New Year’s resolution will be taking 2 hits before challenging any post. I want to
contribute to a more Ramily oriented forum. I’ve been admittedly at times a bit of a dick in 2024.
Looking to be a little more active this year as well after taking about 4 years off. Miss a lot of the discussions I used to have. For the record, challenging post is what makes this site active so dont get too soft :) Happy New Year.

If the Vikings let him walk they are going to regret it. They don’t even know if JJ is any good
I saw a report yesterday that the Vikings are going with Darnold and will entertain trades for JJ. Maybe the Rams should inquire about JJ's cost.

They could but IF they move him I doubt he'd be dealt to an NFC team.
If the Vikings trade him now, they probably don't recapture the value (2024 11th pick) they invested last year. You think they would decrease that value further by cutting off half of the potential market?

Yes. Especially in a weak QB draft class in which if the kid stayed in school he might be the #1 overall selection.

Side note: There was that "something for nothing" trade where the Jets bluffed the Vikings into giving up a fourth and a fifth to move up from 11 to 10 to draft JJ. Joe Douglas said on camera he was trying to get something for nothing from the Vikings and it worked. JJ was the 2024 10th pick.

Bigger picture: seeing how the Vikings handled the drafting of JJ should make people wonder about the Vikings front office.

Related: No one knows anything about the Vikings intent on JJ. These purported unsourced rumors/stories/reports seem to be derived from Schefter's speculation-interview on Jan. 1. Schefter himself said he does not know if the Vikings want to trade JJ or not.
Schefter didn't say why the Vikings would want to keep JJ - but seems logical as insurance in case Darnold falls back to Earth.
