I actually think the most plausible scenario now is that Minnesota signs Darnold long term and deals JJ McCarthy.
If they make a major playoff run, you could be right on about that. And if that were the case I would trade for McCarthy.

Otherwise if Darnold does sign elsewhere I believe the Rams will be in play. We know he loves Southern California and would have the same offense that he ran with Kevin O'Connell.

However, Darnold could also go back to San Francisco and they could then let Purdy walk.

Call me crazy but, sign, Fields to be our back up next season. He gets a year or 2 under Stafford and can be worked into the game plan as a mobile QB on some plays that throws the defense off. Dude has a strong arm and is extremely athletic. Worth a swing IMO and probably cheap. I'd rather have him then JG.

He is the second QB to find success with that team. Look at how well the last QB did when he went to a new team. I'd pass

Speaking of potential signings next season, does anyone think the Rams would be interested in a FA WR like Tee Higgins if he's on the market?
The Rams would be but we also need another CB, another quality tackle, maybe another defensive tackle to rotate in, and an inside linebacker. Most of these can probably be had in the draft so I'd say aim high with the FA if its for a difference maker. Only bad thing is Higgins is gonna cost a lot of coin and they'll be lots of bidders with more cash than us. Would be an easy transition for Higgins tho since he's gonna to a similar offense.

Honestly depends on how Stafford does look in the playoffs and if he sticks around. If he looks like dog poo in the playoffs, Rams may look to replace him. If he balls out enough to say, play for another championship, and we pull that off, will ge ride off into the sunset? Just to many unknowns to just flat out say no. My best guess, they'd probably roll out Jimmy G with a backup plan behind him ready to hopefully go. What that would be is anyone's guess.

I’d pay Jimmy G 10-15 for 2-3 years before I’d do something ill advised like that. Especially now they have a full year of tape on this version of Darnold. And exactly like @Jacobarch stated, Darlnold is a product of the players around him, the success is not because of him. Other words he’s not the source of the success.

Want proof? See if Minny signs him to a 40-55 mill a yr. Contract after this season.
I disagree with all of that. I wouldn't let him leave if I was the Vikings. Besides, if I am Darnold I sign a team friendly deal that is around 35 mil a year for however long it needs to be to fit under their cap with the understanding that the contract is renegotiated after 2 years if he hits certain goals.

This guy isn't Purdy. He has way more athletic ability and skill.

I thought of that worst case as well. If I was SF that is what I would do. Lets hope he stays with the Vikings.

Yeah, 50 mill per year will put him at #9
Maybe they can't keep him because of salary cap, I have no idea, but if I was them I would sure make a run at him. McCarthy looked good in Preseason, but we know how much that means. Hard to believe He could play any better than Sam. Also hard to believe Sam would revert to the old Sam.
