They are both 29. Woods is the more durable of the two. He's more proven in this offense. OBJ has made some big plays but are they needed if you have woods pulling down 6-9 catches a game, and keeping the chains moving?

The guy was born with fucking stickum on his hands man. People always point to his insane highlight spectacular grabs all over the field, but its these types of plays that really win games. That 4th down catch was as clutch as it gets, and his huge hands put the vice grips on that shit.
We seriously have a decision to make with OBJ and Woods after this year. I dont see how we let OBJ walk away from our franchise. 5 TDs in 7 games?? All while coming into a new system mid season. He's not getting enough credit IMO.
Woods being more proven in this offense is a ridiculous point. It means nothing. If anything it speaks to how great OBJ has done coming in mid season. He's put up Woods full season TD numbers in 7 games with zero chemistry with his QB and learning on the fly. Can you imagine what OBJ will do with a full off-season and reps with Stafford. He will go nuts.
He's got the higher upside, and is a bit younger. The leadership thing is real though because Woods is a tremendous leader. But dont forget McVay wanted to trade for OBJ after 2016, and OBJ came out publicly and said he wanted to be in LA. There is mutual interest and has been for a while.
I wouldn't be surprised if we sign OBJ and keep Woods. But to me that seems like a waste with Van, Tutu, Skro, and Harris that all need to develop.

I put an equal amount of blame on McVay for the play. 3 guys in the same area running similar routes???
The problem is that the routes were so short that there wasn't much time for progression. The defender was in front of OBJ and no one was on Hibgee. Stafford assumes it's man or that he would stay with OBJ, but the defender easily jumps Higbee's route since it's in the same area. The timing of the route was catch and throw, and if Stafford waited to see what the defender would do, the play would have been over since there were no other options.
Had to record the game, just finished watching it. Wow! Whew!

That makes a ton of sense. I remember thinking that running that route combo together would make for a ton of INT's.
Definitely not all on Stafford if one of the reviewers ran a wrong route. (Not sure who it was)
McVay mentioned that the "two-receiver" ran the wrong route.
I am guessing that was Beckham. If he takes the route up field, the defender (Clark) that's right in front of OBJ probably goes up-field with him and is not in position to make the interception.
I find a way to keep Woods and OBJ.
Odds of having all our WRs available aren't great, no spring chickens in the group so having 2 out of 3 between Kupp, OBJ and Woody helps keep us in good shape outside.

It’s difficult to compare two receivers from different systems with different QBs and OCs. Plus they played different roles. So let’s take look at common stats

Health
OBJ has played 90 games in 7 years averaging 11.7 games per year
Woods has played 116 games in 8 years averaging 14.5 per year
Rushing
I’m not going to compare rushing totals because it is too lopsided in Woods favor. Woods has been a very good running threat on jet sweeps and is an excellent blocker.
Aside from one year in Cle OBJ hasn’t been used that way and thus far we haven’t seen him run once for the Rams.

OBJ 7349 total 77.4 per game
Woods 7077 total 56.6 per game
Woods has been higher lately while OBJs was higher earlier in his career.
So are these guys all that different? Woods has been healthier, has a slightly higher catch % and has proven to be a good runner in this offense.
Thanks to restructures Woods has a 15 million dollar cap number in 2022. It could make him very difficult to trade especially coming off an ACL. Kupp’s cap number will be 18 million. I don’t think they possibly could fit Beckham too. Someone has to go.
You said OBJ is happy in LA. I don’t know how that figures into things. Woods is happy in LA also.
How much chemistry did Woods have with Stafford? A training camp. Judging by the first game very little. In the first few games he was rarely targeted.
In the end they will do what they deem best. Maybe with what they feel is still a Super Bowl roster they will try to move Woods since he’s coming off a major injury and Beckham is currently not. They may want to roll with the player they think will give them a full season. With Woods’ cap hit and injury I don’t think they can get a 2nd round pick for him. They may have to practically give him away. They’d likely get a third round comp pick for OBJ.
Overall it would be shitty, since they asked both Kupp and Woods permission to add OBJ in the first place.
