I have never been a Tavon fan, but like this signing. He has some unique talents. I hope the coaches can now work it in somehow.

Interesting. I’m surprised he restructured. The $5M was already a given.
So we came to him and said, either you restructure this year, taking between 1-2 million probably, or we cut you?
Tavon’s options
1. Take the $5M and go hit the market for a new contract now.
2. Stay on the restructured deal, hope to hit $3 Mil and know that this year is a tryout for the other 31 teams.
Rams Perspective: They save at least a little cash, and will have a VERY MOTIVATED Tavon Austin. They don’t get any compensation for him...but oh well.
Tavon’s perspective: He must know he had a really down year, so his value can only go up. He gets to stay on a team that he seems to love and an offense that should give him the best opportunity to showcase himself.

Incentive based salaries are not guaranteed. My understanding his 3 million salary would have been had he been on the roster after today. 50/50 at best he is on the roster for game 1.
i don't care. i'd rather have tavon on the team than on another team. still holding out hope mcvay can get him involved in devastating spurts.

Had he been cut he wasn’t going to see any money in future years anyway( I think). And Rams were only on hook for 2018 for any guaranteed money (I think)
correct but i didn't think he would agree to that. i like having players on contract years as they play their arse off.
