First - Bill Bellichick texts like a teenage girl.

Second - I don't see the "racism" aspect

Third - fuck Stephen Ross.
I think the implied racism is that he was only interviewed to satisfy the Rooney Rule when Brian Dabol lwas the pick all along. Pretty shitty thing to do but I feel like Brian Flores is gonna need a bit more than this if he's to win this case. There wasn't anything definitive in Bill's texts, basically him saying its what he had heard around the NFL circles. The Giants can also come out and say that Daboll was the better interview, better suited for the role and that Flores had as much of a shot as he did. But I am not a lawyer and it's REALLY bad optics for the Giants.

I don't know if the evidence outright proves the racism charge, but even if not, it doesn't look good for the Giants and very much looks like they were just going through the motions with Flores. And if he can produce the goods on the allegations against Ross, it's going to be awful for him - maybe awful enough that the NFL "encourages" him to sell the team.

Well it's based around Rooney rule where this looks like they were just giving Flores a token interview to appease it without really considering him. The racism aspect is borderline legally speaking unless they have more stuff. But really all Giants have to say is that Daboll was their favorite before the interviewing process but they wanted to still interview other well qualified candidates to make sure they wanted to go that route or in case Daboll took another job and that's about it as far as suit goes... unless there's more like I said.

It's something a lot of teams probably do but won't ever admit to it. Giants just got screwed over by Belichek by being a dumbass. So it makes them look dirty and stupid.

I think the point is to put it out there publicly as an F U to Miami. The racism allegation is probably just to survive a motion to dismiss (which it will) and move into the discovery phase - where the NFL will fold like a cheap towel.

I don't see the racism angle either. Doesn't mean it's not there. He may very well be right. But there is nothing there that speaks to that.

Truth is he may be seen by the NFL owners as a difficult type head coach. Once you get that stigma good luck. The guy is a good ass coach, I think that's pretty clear, but you have to be able to work with owners and keep shit under your hat.

Exactly this. I like Flores but unless there's more that comes out that definitively proves racism, Flores doesn't have a home run case. This will get interesting though. There are some severe repercussions in the end for one party or the other in this case.

I couldn't figure out the racism angle either.

It is a reach by Flores for sure. Maybe they liked Daboll a lot and decided they will hire him. As if an organization has never made a decision on a hire before all candidates were interviewed.

Absurd.

BB saying he heard that Flores was the guy in NY doesn't help his case. That insinuates they were high on him which works against the racism angle.

I'm probably alone on this but I don't like what I'm hearing from Flores through this early offseason. If he's not careful he's gonna be a career DC way he's going.

I don't like it either and this is coming from someone who likes Flores. I really hope that this has some merit to it outside of what we see now, otherwise to me it comes off as a guy who's pissed off after being passed up for multiple HC jobs when he felt he was the top candidate. I'll reserve judgement until we get more but he's really putting a lot on the line with this claim.

Rooney Rule is dumb these days. Brian Daboll was the biggest candidate since last year. He's not gonna be able to prove this, unless he has some really damning evidence.

His real issue should be with Stephen Ross.

Entirely a political publicity stunt/attempt to extort a settlement. As an actual lawsuit, it will fail.
I disagree. I think it settles - but if not, its a question of damages - not winning or losing.

the league put the Rooney rule in place for a reason - and if you have a smoking gun that it wasn't followed, that you were just used as a token - I think you have good grounds for a discrimination case.
