One way to look at it.I agree. It is a publicity stunt.
Another would be holding them accountable to their own words and policies that they’re using to protect their brand.

An interview isn’t a real thing in a process if a decision has already been made.Yes, it is.
.
1. The owners don't have a right to engage in racial discrimination. Whether Flores can prove that is what his lawsuit hinges on.The owners of the business have every right to make the decision who works for them.
Do you happen to have a list of this history of blacks who have been fired without cause? How many of them have won court cases for unlawful termination?
I’m calling bullshit.
Getting fired after one year despite overachieving and then being replaced by a guy whose grand total of coaching experience is being an assistant coach at a high school would really be something. I kind of hope the Texans hire Josh McCown just for the hilarity of it all.Culley getting fired was something.
It would be just spectacular.Getting fired after one year despite overachieving and then being replaced by a guy whose grand total of coaching experience is being an assistant coach at a high school would really be something. I kind of hope the Texans hire Josh McCown just for the hilarity of it all.
It’s the same thing. A bunch of unfounded claims drumming up a mindless public backlash and emotional response toward a multi-billion dollar industry. One way to look at it.

You’re blowing smoke and have no basis for your claims. In fact you probably have little or no experience in real life or the business world especially something as big as the NFL.1. The owners don't have a right to engage in racial discrimination. Whether Flores can prove that is what his lawsuit hinges on.
2. It's interesting that you've shifted your stance from the owners are hiring the best person for the job to the owners have the right to hire whomever they want. Glad we're at least getting away from the farce that these decisions are purely based on merit.
3. Coaches typically don't sue. Doing so risks ending your career. Feel free to look at the list of names I gave and come to your own conclusions on whether those guys deserved their firings.
You're welcome to call bullshit all you like. But I've offered the data. I've offered specifics when asked for them. At the end of the day, I don't expect to persuade you of anything.
Sure there is a reason, just none you agree with. And you’re completely entitled to your opinion. It’s the same thing. A bunch of unfounded claims drumming up a mindless public backlash and emotional response toward a multi-billion dollar industry.
So they make a big to do about it and make a rule when in reality it has no legal basis or need to follow it.
There is no justification for using race as a factor for hiring someone.
Funny story, I used to work for a NFL team. Now, I'm an attorney. I guess that makes me doubly an expert here. You’re blowing smoke and have no basis for your claims. In fact you probably have little or no experience in real life or the business world especially something as big as the NFL.
There have been no legal cases won against the NFL for racial discrimination, and particularly for the position of head coach.
I agree with your other takes that the firing of Flores was idiotic for what he was able to do in Miami. But, he also reportedly had a lot of issues with his own staff and non communication.I don't know why Flores got fired.
But I am saying that there's a history of Black coaches being undeservedly fired in the NFL. Indeed, it's what prompted the league to create the Rooney Rule,
That’s purely hyperbole. The NFL's HC ranks are very disproportionately white, even relative to the rest of the coaching pool. That is indicative of a problem. It indicates that they're not hiring purely on merit.

The Rooney rule was created to give minority candidates interviews and experience at the HC and FO positions.
The problem with trying to move along things to the ideology of something more “equitable” is issues like what is happening now arises. A teams FO already knows who they want for a position these situations will arise, being forced to conduct interview others to solely go through the motions is a by product of this “equity” attempt.
Also, just because someone’s a minority doesn’t mean they are the best person in that time and place for the job.
You’re telling me you’d want a minority performing brain surgery on your child if they weren’t the best surgeon for the job and were only there for the color of their skin (which indeed fits the stereotyping of racism)
That’s purely hyperbole.
There hasn’t been a white starting CB in the league since 2002 until 2021. Tell me, if this was the other way with no minority starting at CB for around 19 years don’t you think we would hear about daily?! Of course we would hear everyday by the hour on the hour.
However, that’s not part of the “progressive” narrative they want to push while anyone who points the obvious get labeled with the brain dead title of being a “ racist” to shut them up.
This movement doesn’t want equality anymore they want domination.
The NFL tried to play to one side and now they are feeling the burn from trying to play the morale good guy while we know they’ll play any side as long as it’s good for them monetary long term.
I actually hope Flores sues the hell out of the NFL to teach them a lesson.
Are you arguing that MLK opposed "affirmative action" type programs?Or as Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of - a day when people would look at content of character and NOT color of skin.
I'm not getting the relevance of this. Are you arguing that Black people are inherently worse head coaches? Not sure how the whole "equally gifted" discussion plays into coaching hires. Finally, to claim differ races of people are going to be equally gifted at certain things is a very ignorant view of reality. To try to match skin color to jobs with the aim of equality is a very strange thing to suggest. No one suggests that Asians who are statistically much smaller and less athletic then "black" people should have a 50-50 share in starting positions in the NBA. I am sure they would love a cut of those millions. But that idea is ridiculous. There are major disparities in IQ, athleticism, size and other characteristics among all races.
To create an arbitrary criteria for what an NFL owner or GM should look for in a head coach and then to proceed to insinuate that he is racist because he doesn't fit your made up criteria is utter bullshit. That is a serious, serious serious accusation and some Jr. High level reasoning.
Your own idea of who is fit for the job has absolutely zero relevance to the massive decision of who to pay 10's of millions of dollars to.
To suggest that a person should get consideration for anything based on something as ridiculous, superficial and immutable as skin color vs merit is very very racist.
To separate people in groups based on skin color and then pit them against each other making one group an oppressor and the other victim, in the absence of actual proof of racism with such carelessness is disgusting. If you have actual proof of racism then bring it to the table and I will fight with you against the disgusting racist. If you don't have proof then stop making baseless accusations.
To view people through the lens of skin color as their primary identity is the very definition of being a racist. Its the ideology of segregationists. Those same people who pocket your money while" black" neighborhoods grow more impoverished and deal with higher murder rates based on BS like "defund the police".
As Morgan Freeman said, "How bout you stop calling me a black man and I will stop calling you a white person". Or as Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of - a day when people would look at content of character and NOT color of skin.
This whole NFL witch hunt reminds me of the Jussie Smollet case. Wild accusations of Racism for personal gain. It's big money in the U.S. Like the BLM leader who skipped town with millions until she got caught. Or the 60 million that went missing and never actually made it into the hands of "black" people.

People that are Actually hiring are looking for the best person for the job. Their careers, livelihood and pride are on the line. So stop calling them Racists unless you have actual proof of Racism.
And if it turns out Flores or anyone else was mistreated due to Racism then I will be the first person to pick up a pitchfork and fight along side you to stop out the Racist.
