Wouldn't surprise me if LaFleur goes with him and calls plays and we promote NateIf he gets it, he better stay away from Nate as OC. I’d assume Shula would go with a more experienced OC.

Guys can we keep the QB talk in the QB thread? This is the coaches thread
He'll have all the time he needs to find one. We're talking about Pittsburgh. That's a great job but Tomlin's a tough act to follow. Steeler fans will need to at the very least not see a dip in defensive potency while he searches for that QB answer.
As well as promoting Pleasant and saying, "fuck you Chargers!!!"Wouldn't surprise me if LaFleur goes with him and calls plays and we promote Nate
Sounds like an assumption that ignores Tomlin's body of work. Winning a title early and then not missing the playoffs even without a QB is how you end up with a job for a long time. He'll have all the time he needs to find one. We're talking about Pittsburgh.
Yes. 19 years? Of course not. The new coach will get 4 or 5 years before he's on the hot seat IMHO, sans a bunch of 4-13 seasons. Is Pittsburgh automatically patient and long term with coaches?
They have but they trust their process. And who can argue with that?Or have they benefitted from great hires. And from there what happens if the hire is not great.
So I don't think it's a healthy assumption to make that he'll have all the time he needs.
Bill Cowher became coach of the Steelers in 1992. He won the superbowl in 2006.Sounds like an assumption that ignores Tomlin's body of work. Winning a title early and then not missing the playoffs even without a QB is how you end up with a job for a long time.

I think the law of averages has to catch up with them at some pointSo I don't think it's a healthy assumption to make that he'll have all the time he needs.
Precisely my thinking.I think the law of averages has to catch up with them at some point
Personally, I think it will be easy for them to cut bait if the next coach aint it in the first couple years. Cowher won 32 games his first 3 years, Tomlin 31. If the next coach only wins 7-8 games he'll be gone quickly because he clearly isnt tracking
