At the end in Miami it was reported that coaches on his staff were saying they'd never work with him again. Sure seems like him not getting a HC job probably has more to do with his style than with the lawsuit still ongoing.
Well all we can go on as fans is the production of his units. What we see on the field. And from that perspective Flores always seems to get the most from his talent.

Also I'm not a big fan of Pettine. He may know more or even just think he knows more, but none of that stuff matters if it doesn't translate to the players. Flores is a coach who translates well to the players.

All that aside I think you are correct that if he's a dickhead it's going to affect his future job market. As it should. If you can't attract the best offensive coordinator options then you're gonna come up short in selling an owner on your ability to turn around his shitty program.

But he's certainly getting a lot out of his defensive guys right now and at times in the past.
That's my definition of what he knows translating to the field.

If Tua doesn't like him maybe there's good reason. Or maybe he just didn't like getting called on his BS. No way to know the truth of that stuff. However if Flores is a dickhead then that list will continue to grow of people who hate him, and it will come around on him in affecting his ability to get hired.

And I don't doubt he's a dickhead btw.

Pettine was a HS coach in a neighboring school district near where I live. His Dad was a legendary coach as well.

ESPN had a program back in the late 90's called "The Season". One series of episodes they followed Pettine and his team's season. I remember on highlight was that his team lost to his Dad and how it was tough for him to handle it. His Dad would tease him about it at family get togethers. I think however they did eventually win the state title that year or lost the championship game. Anyway it was interesting.

It was kind of cool when he jumped to the NFL soon after that right from HS.

When he coached a local HS near me 25 yrs ago, he was kind of a dick. His school was twice the size as the other large schools in the area, so his team would dominate. He still seemed very arrogant. His dad, who was also a local legend at another local HS, was another guy that was full of himself.

Communication does not seem to be one of Flores's strengths, for better or worse.

Oddly, there's that (rumored) one stretch of games in Miami where Flores's lack of communication worked, but it's not a good look, probably not sustainable, and not what you want from the leader of the team:

“He stopped communicating with his staff somewhere around really Thanksgiving and even about things like daily meeting plans,” said Marcel Louis-Jacques. “It’s my understanding that some of, at least, his assistants felt like they just didn’t know what was going on in his head. They didn’t know what he was thinking. They didn’t know what his plan was. And the incredible thing is that it continued through the winning streak. So they finish 8-1 as he’s not talking to people.”

So if the Browns have had more rejections then interviews, how is Andrew Berry doing a stellar job? He has not interviewed anyone of significance and his drafting has been somewhat checkered at best. Berry is the ringmaster of that circus in Cleveland.
A day or two ago, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was on the Rich Eisen Show and discussed the Cleveland Browns' head coaching search process and the depth of its commitment to Analytics.

It was the Browns that hired baseball guy Paul DePodesta as their Chief Strategy Officer; and he was with them for about 7-8 years before returning to MLB (Rockies). DePodesta was a top Analytics-guy.

Pelissero's comments (I'm sure they can easily be found) were about how specific and detailed analytics were to the Browns' head coaching search process, saying that their process was 'Unlike any in the NFL'

He said they were a 'data driven organization', spending an 'extraordinary amount of time gathering data'.
And that included candidates filing-out 'Questionnaires', taking a 'Personality Test' and 'Writing an Essay', with 'Home-work Assignments' after each round of interviews.

Now, I am not surprised that Analytics have become a part of the NFL but Pelissero's comments shocked me.

Understood and analytics should factor into the decision making, but in the end, you still have to make the call and the Browns need to hire someone that can not only change the culture, but keep ownership away and let them focus on the new dome they are building in Northeast Ohio.

Grant Udinski from the Jaguars would be intersting hire, although he has never called plays. The question would be would their DC Jim Schwartz stay on, if they indeed hired a 30 year old head coach or do the Browns hire Schwartz and bring in a young OC? Tough call as I don't see Schwarz staying on and reporting to a 30 year old unless Udinski is smart enough to inform Schwartz he truly will be HC of the defense similar to how McVay empowered Wade Phillips.

Agree, and I am all for an organization being proactive, creative and thinking out of the box. Heck, that’s one of the reasons I believe the McVay/Snead combo has been so successful (along with the support of Kroenke and Demoff).

That being said, if an organization is as extreme as Pellisero is saying, that could be too much, too fast, and turn-off some of the best candidates.
