Maybe more than one more year...Aaron Rodgers will come back for one more year.

Numbers are only as good as the formula. How the fuck do you quantify a coach with numbers. The only numbers that mater are wins and losses. How you lead men can't be quantified.A day or two ago, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was on the Rich Eisen Show and discussed the Cleveland Browns' head coaching search process and the depth of its commitment to Analytics.
It was the Browns that hired baseball guy Paul DePodesta as their Chief Strategy Officer; and he was with them for about 7-8 years before returning to MLB (Rockies). DePodesta was a top Analytics-guy.
Pelissero's comments (I'm sure they can easily be found) were about how specific and detailed analytics were to the Browns' head coaching search process, saying that their process was 'Unlike any in the NFL'
He said they were a 'data driven organization', spending an 'extraordinary amount of time gathering data'.
And that included candidates filing-out 'Questionnaires', taking a 'Personality Test' and 'Writing an Essay', with 'Home-work Assignments' after each round of interviews.
Now, I am not surprised that Analytics have become a part of the NFL but Pelissero's comments shocked me.
Odd hire for Pittsburgh. They tend to hire younger, under the radar guys, that end up coaching there for 15+ yrs. McCarthy, in his 60's, more of a short term guy I would think.Just wow. I think he's probably gotten too much heat for the end of Packers tenure but this feels like a Jeff Fisher hire. Straight down the middle with only a little upside.
Yeah this is a totally bizarre hire by the Steelers organization. Shocking actually. I could understand if it were someone like Harbaugh. Very weird. So let me get this straight. You got Tomlin to step down because he wasn't winning in the playoffs. You hired a guy who coached Dallas for 5 years. Made the playoffs 3 of them and was one and done in all 3?
Bad owners are bad what a terrible hire.
I think you gotta kick the tires on the Bills and Raiders if I'm him (and timing allows). As bad as front office seems with Bills you get a top 3 QB and Raiders gonna get Mendoza and I think Spytek is no dummy so there's a chance to get things turned around in the front office there.looks more and more like we will hang on to our DC. I don't think any of the jobs left would be good for him.
Isn't this a Pittsburgh value?Straight down the middle with only a little upside.
Yeah that might be true. If I remember Tomlin's hire, it was a weird fit. Decent D coordinator but they still had and kept Dick LaBleu.Isn't this a Pittsburgh value?
They hired Tomlin who reports indicate preferred player personnel to be safe and have high floors even at the expense of upside. I think it's a Steeler value, likely starting at the top.
It does seem like a weird hire. I gotta think that its because of Rodgers.Yeah that might be true. If I remember Tomlin's hire, it was a weird fit. Decent D coordinator but they still had and kept Dick LaBleu.
I don't know. Maybe it just seems weird cause he's a retread and Tomlin and Cowher were not?
It’s amazing for us and all I care about. If we can retain both Shula and Scheelhaase (sp?), I’d be thrilled! So let me get this straight. I concur, one decent year under McCarthy and one failure leading them to draft a QB and hire a young up & incoming football coach. McCarthy becomes the next Bill Austin.I'm betting it's the latter. So I'll give McCarthy 2 years.
