One thing you guys might be missing with the zac Taylor interview is that HC interviews aren’t blockable unlike OC/DC interviews. Could very well be a way around that much like LaFleur wth the Titans last year

I don't think the Rams would deny permission if they were going to allow Taylor to call plays. It's away around it, to see if he would be a fit, if you hired somebody else, but the Rams could still have denied the Titans of hiring LaFleur, it was that Sean McVay calls the plays and wanted LaFleur to get his chance to call plays.

Like Taylor as much as anybody but I have a hard time believing he’s ready.

I agree, would be a mistake, but right now, Keim is making all the wrong moves...Taylor was a tad overwhelmed as a play caller, not only with the Dolphins, but at the University of Cincinnati as well. A few more years of seasoning to be an OC, let alone a Head Coach, but the Rams will gladly elevate Jedd Fisch and I actually believe the next Head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals will be Freddie Kitchens.

If I'm Gase I have already called McVay and told him I'd like to join his staff as whatever creative title he wants to give me. Would be an assistant OC in a heartbeat for the Rams, because this coaching staff is a springboard for jobs.

Gase will be on everybody's short list as OC and I don't think it's a match with McVay because Gase will want to be calling plays and will be able to do that for another team.

With him being a GM of an actual team, Mayocks long lists of sources will dry up instantly. Then we’ll see how much he really blinked. I can’t stand the guy.

To each his own. All the media types get a little old after awhile. Mayock has college connections all around. He should be a big asset come draft day. I imagine he knows area scouts which is where the Rams Snead was valuable in putting together a solid scouting department. I don't see his sources drying up. I see him drafting like the Rams have with Snead and McVay. Committed football guys with smarts. I'll miss his insight.

College coaches aren’t where he gets his best NFL scouting info. It’s mostly from scouts of NFL teams. It doesn’t behoove a college coach to tout players of other teams.

Gase is a good playcaller, I don't see him as a guy who has a lot to prove on that front. Under McVay he'd be able to take notes on how he handles the day to day operations as head coach & play caller, and make sure he's ready for that next head coach job which will be coming very soon.

oh I have no doubt McVay would allow any of his coaches to leave for a coordinator job and wouldnt block an interview for it, but...

1. for team with a HC vacancy there no point to risk it when they can just have them interview for the HC job and use it as a coordinator interview also if they choose someone else to be their HC.

2. early bird gets the worm. why wait til you have a HC to interview guys you may want as an OC. better to get your foot in the door early and let the candidate know you are interested

Somebody could offer him an OC job or even a HC job.

Yeah the offer to look out for is an offensive head coach trying to get all slick willy with an "OC" job. McVay isn't the kind of guy to stand in the way of promotions, but he'd have to deny that nonsense IMO. That is my biggest fear with our coaching staff and has been since the end of last season.

This headline made me laugh.

Marvin Lewis endorses Hue Jackson for the Bengals’ head-coaching job

Jesus man. Lewis has zero clue if he thinks anyone's going to touch Jackson after that mess he led in Cleveland. Hue needs to stfu and eat some humble pie for a while and rebuild his brand as an OC.
