I don't see anyone saying they have clinched... but i dont see how they didnt.

The worse they do is 9 and 7... the only team below them that could get to 9 and 7 is the bears...

if first tie breaker is head to head then they wint that?

someone help me out here.

Just win one more and they in. Win out and division champs. This game won't matter in the end game tho.

But look

vikings 6 and 8... they can't get to 9 wins... the only team below them that can get to 9 wins is the bears...

and the rams beat the bears...

so how have the rams not clinched?

I was having the same discussion with a friend before. Looks to me like the rams have clinched

Cardinals. If they win out they would over take the Rams. And like we saw today no game is a guarantee so the Rams could lose out. I don't think that will happen tho.

There are 7 teams in the play offs this year. The rams own the tie break with the bears. Even if the Cards and bears won out the rams would still have the 7th seed due to owning the tie breaker with the bears

The Cardinals are currently the 7th seed at 8-6.

The Rams have the Bears beat in h2h and conference record. I'm not sure how we haven't clinched.

Cardinals are already in the playoffs as of now however.. so thats not it.

the only thing i can come up with is that if we were in a 3 way tie with teh bucs and bears it would go to division record and we would have the worse... between the 3 of them.

Which would leave us out... however that would make no sense as we beat both of them... Im not 100% sure but that;s only thing i can come up with.

Nope it's the same as it was before this week:

If us, the Cards and Bears all finished 9-7, one team has to be left out. The way the NFL does it is it checks for division opponents first and only takes one. Cards would have a better division record than us (since we would lose out in this scenario which means they would beat us and would have a better division record) - so then it would compare the Cards and the Bears. If the Cards beat them out, it would go to us and the Bears, which we would win - but both the Cards and Bears would be 7-5 against the NFC, so I believe the Bears get them in common opponents.

So Cards beat Rams, Bears beat Cards, were out.

Ironically, we would clinch a playoff spot with an AZ win next week even if we lose and the Bears win - bc that eliminates the three way 9-7 possibility

NYT simulation has us at only 90% clinching a playoff spot if we end up 9-7.

It doesn't make sense to me but I still like our odds to win one game over the next two.

See my post.

If the Bears win out, Cards lose to the Niners but beat us and we lose to Seattle, were out. It's unlikely that the Cards lose to the Niners and the Bears beat the Packers, so that's why it's only a 10% chance

I also see a scenario that us the bears and tampa bay could be 9-7... unlikely but possible.

the packers might have clinched home field before the last week of the season and not have to play anyone gainst the bears....

I didnt hear who the 3 teams were but they said on the NBC pre-game that the Rams would be out of a 3 team tie breaker

In that scenario the first time breaker would be a sweep, which we have since we beat them both - so we would be in

Yeah we posted around the same time. It makes sense now. Thanks

The Bears could easily win out. Packers might have #1 seed wrapped up by week 17 and sit key guys...their other game is vs Jags.

The one that makes it unlikely is the Cards losing to SF.... assuming the Rams shit the bed.
