If we lose next week (very likely) and the Niners beat the Cards next week(possible) and the Bears beat the Jags (very likely) we would be on the brink of missing the playoffs. What a difference a week makes

I ran the tiebreaker scenario through the playoff machine.

If we end up in a 3 way tie with Arizona and Chicago we would miss the playoffs as stated above.

So yea we need to win a game vs Seattle or Zona or have Zona beat the Niners

Here is the 3 way tie breaker scenario that knocks the Rams out.

Why are we chalking up Seattle as a loss? They barely beat Washington today, lost to the Giants with Colt McCoy at QB. That's almost as bad as losing to the Jets

This doesn't compute to me. 7 teams make it this year.
The 4 division winners and three wild card teams.
Right now that's the BUCS, RAMS and AZ. The worst we finish is 9-7. The only other team that could even get there is Chicago but head to head is the first tie breaker and we own that. And we have the better conference record. So I don't see how we don't make the playoffs either way. What am I not seeing?

Ah I see..You have 6 teams in your format (that's not the case this year, 7 go)
No I have 7. New Orleans at the top in this mock.

In this scenario there are 5 teams in
GB NO TB WASH SEA

then a 3 team tie for seed 6 and 7

Rams would loose out in this scenario for reason already stated

If we lose our last two games we don’t deserve a playoff spot .. simple. After today‘s loss I’m taking any further progress we make this season as a bonus.

Agreed. We have masked our Oline deficiencies all year with the rollouts.

Add dropped passes and BS penalties and we have no chance.

If Mcvay don’t roll Goff out we stand no chance. We are playing with a backup center, a backup LT and a RT that struggles in pass blocking. When we face a strong front it’s like a dam broke.

What you are missing is the fact that we beat the Bears head-to-head is behind the conference record when 3+ teams are 9-7.

We’d be out even though we beat the Bears.

Losing 3 in a row including the 0-13 Jets? We’d deserve to be out.

Which is incorrect. Chicago can NOT take the spot since we beat them head to head. Can't happen

We have a better conference record than the Bears also. So that doesn't make sense to me either

I wouldn't be shocked if we lost our last two games to the Cards and the Hawks, and missed the playoffs altogether.

Even if we do make the playoffs, we are an inconsistent team, with an inconsistent QB. With the pressure turned up...I can't think of many teams we would match-up well against. A SB is clearly out of the question.

Someone posted the rules above for a 3 way tie scenario. Only one team from the same division gets in and it’s based on conference record. The Cardinals would have the better conf record over us if we lost our last two games. So Cardinals and Bears get in.

But we should beat either Seattle or Arizona so you don’t need to sweat it too much.

Here is the interesting thing.

If the Rams lose to Seattle and the Saints beat Minnesota then Green Bay will be motivated to beat Chicago in the final week so they don’t lose the #1 seed.

In a 3 way tie between Seattle NO and GB, the seeding goes as follows:

1 NO
2 Seattle
3 GB

So the Rams almost certainly will make the playoffs even if they lose against Seattle and Arizona. Why? Because Green Bay will be beating Chicago.

I laid the logic out on the first page but essentially it's like this: Cards win tie breaker over Rams, Bears win tie breaker over Cards

If the Cards were NOT in the NFC West, then our tie breaker over the Bears would come into play and I believe conference record would end up getting us in

But because us and AZ are in the same division, we would be out.

Exactly. Guaranteed at least 7 seed and at best 3 seed.

Nice Post.

Totally Agee! If we lose 3 Straight Games (One of those games include the WINLESS JETS!) to end the regular season they definitely don’t deserve to go to the Playoffs!

BUT, I will add that I think once the Playoffs begin ANYTHING can happen and ANYONE can win it all so I definitely want the Rams to make it to the Playoffs!!!

I ran several scenarios several times.

Assuming the Rams beat Arizona in the final week and no upsets the Seattle game is irrelevant.

Rams will be playing Seattle wildward weekend #3 vs #6 the only thing Sundays game determines is division winner. We will still face Seattle wildcard weekend.
