Losing the Super Bowl to the Patriots the way we did is apparently causing some of the talking heads to theorize that the Rams were exposed – charlatans if you will. Just yesterday on the local sports radio here, it was put forth that Billy Bellyache has shown the rest of the league how to beat the Rams. They waxed on about teams now having a blueprint (courtesy of Billy) to shut down the Rams offense.

Poor Sean has lost his mojo, and we are now a one year wonder. Hogwash! At this moment in time, I’d be willing to bet that Sean has already watched so much tape of that game, that he likely has committed every snap of that game to memory. True the Patsies had a good game plan and we did not have an answer on that day. That Day!

Their plan was to take away our running game and make Goff beat them. It worked. Does anyone here believe that Sean McVay is incapable of adjusting? I believe he already has and will implement those adjustments as needed.

Notwithstanding the departure of 2 starters on our O-line, along with the questions about Gurley’s knee, I believe we will be a better team this year than last year. Our defense should be better, and our offense should be more potent as well. Kupp is back, Everett is improving, and I expect Goff to be sharper with another year under his belt – as in going through his reads faster. Every year the game will slow down for him a bit, along with our other younger players on both sides of the ball.

Oh yeah, and there’s that Henderson guy as well. He’s going to be loads of fun for the rest of the NFC west to defend.

The good ol’ days haven’t passed. It’s great to see. Like when Mannion was favored over Goff by McVay. The rookie head coach was in way over his head and too much of a buddy figure. 2017 was an aberration and the Rams would regress being exposed by the Falcons in the playoffs. How they had no shot at advancing in the playoffs because New Orleans, Chicago, and Philly exposed their offense. The Ram defense had no chance of stopping Zeke because they ranked so low against the rush and Dallas had stud linebackers that would make the Rams one dimensional. And, of coarse, they had no shot at beating HOF Brees at home against the hostile crowd. Oh, and Brady was going to carve the Rams for 30+ points.

Let’s actually look at the 2019 squad. Shall we ignore Kupp’s impact on the offense? Wasn’t it obvious to everyone that Sully was the weak link on the OL? Did Suh really fit the scheme? Is it my bad memory or did it seem like Suh only balled out in the playoffs? I lost count how often Joyner was directly responsible for blown coverages. Wasn’t last year Littleton’s first year calling the defense? Weddle and Matthews must be washed up. McVay isn’t smart enough to make adjustments? Yeah, he’s complacent....sure. Wade never figured out how to maximize Peters over the second half of the season, did he? Snead only got lucky with Donald, Havenstein. JJ, Malcolm Brown, Littleton, and Kupp. Therefore, Noteboom, Allen, Kiser, Long, Rapp, Henderson, Evans, and Gaines have no shot at becoming impact players.

Yes, my Ram brethren. The cupboard is empty. Goff is a system quarterback with no real talent because McVay does everything by remote control. TGIII is washed up. The Rams beat the NFC West 221-113, but hey...Jimmy G got hurt. We might as well throw in the towel and trade AD while he still has value to the Browns so we can have a real QB of the future, Baker Mayfield.

BTW, how do I put this all in blue font?

This is a good post. I forgot how much of the narrative heading in to last season was "the rams got exposed", "Goff can't win in the playoffs" alongside the "superteams never work". Rams will be fine. My, as honest as I can be, projection is 12-4 and the floor being a 9-7/10-6 wildcard team.

Night how can Bortles be worse than Mannion?

Mannion:
4 years, 10 games w/ 1 start, 33 of 53 completions, for 258 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT. Rating 66.4

Bortles:
3 years, 37 games w/ 27 starts, 585 of 891 completions, for 7,598 yards, 56 TD, 19 INT. Rating 153.9

Who would you rather have starting if needed? His skill set is a very good fit for McVay's offense and look at the WRs and RBs he has in support. He's good enough to win games if needed. Mannion is a scrub after 4 years. A championship team needs a good backup QB. If he plays that last game against the Cards, he can win it. IMO Blake is one of the best QB's in the NFL. Guys remember they were calling Goff a bust until McVay. I'm not going to be so quick to write Bortles off. Blake really is in a very compatible scheme.

Stop and look at who he would have. RB Brown & Kelly, WR Reynolds & Hodge and TE Higbee...that's not bad support at all. This team is deep with the only area of need right now is CB depth. Troy Hill is a marginal player, so they need someone else besides Long.

When Kupp was healthy, we torched everyone we played. Goff's struggles came without Kupp.

Our defense will be better - I guarantee it. People keep citing Suh being a big loss, but dude was a black hole during the regular season.

Between McVay and Goff being slandered time and again, and people underrating this defense, I'm beginning to think we're going to come destroying teams next year.

This team is so breathtakingly bad, it has taken them two full seasons to become just a one-year wonder....

IMO Joyner was overrated. If he was as good as advertised the pass defense would have been better. Weddle is a huge upgrade, and now with Rapp this team will be set at safety for years. They have quality starters and true depth. David Long is a huge upgrade over Troy Hill. Long is a true starter in the making, who plays the kind of shutdown man coverage that Wade wants. Peters better watch out because if he continues to struggle, Long could take his place after the bye which comes at a perfect time in week 9. Safety and LCB were a huge weakness last year but that has been resolved with Weddle and Long.

.

Boy, Joyner falling off from 2017 was one of the bigger surprises of 2018 for me.

Patriots didn't provide crap, they just copied the Bears. There's about 4 maybe 5 teams in the league with the defense in place to even do what the Bears and Patriots can do, Eagles being one of them.

And the Rams were about 2 plays away, maybe three, from drilling the fucking Patties.

Wow so now a division that we have owned the last two years we could possibly be the second or third best team. Yeah ok!!

First off this guy lost all credibility when he said one hit wonder...hmmm sir we have been good/great for two years now under McVay!

Everybody is talking about oh the Rams this the Rams that due a Superbowl lost. Yes the offense did not look great a 3rd year QB looked nervous and a first time in the Superbowl coach made mistakes. But people fail to realize that the same first time superbowl coach and 3rd year QB had a 3-3 game going into the fourth qtr. It was two good defenses playing and they made a couple more plays than us period.

The only real concerns i have are Gurley's knee and the offense line, and personally i think both will be alright. I also believe that McVay will spice up the offense this year to calm the doubters.

And i still believe we go 12-4 and win the division.

I think the defense will surprise people. We've replaced guys who were underperforming (Joyner) or not suited for the position he was asked to play (Barron) with guys who, while they might be closer to the end of their careers, have performed at a high level before and are now working w/ "Son of Bum..." and will provide an upgrade. The Suh loss...won't be noticed during the season. He did play well in the playoffs, but now our other guys have had a taste.....they'll be hungry for more.

Just my .02......

By that standard, the current Cowboys are zero year wonders. Or have you forgotten the stomping last January? Oh, the score tightened late in the game, but never really got close, but anybody who knows anything about football knows that the Cowboys should have just stayed home that day - and played like it.

I always get nervous at the beginning of a new year.

Especially now that I have a taste of the Super Bowl.

I really don't know what to expect... change happens every year in the NFL... like when the Rams took everyone by surprise.

Alls I know is... I am looking forward to the season... and I still remember - all too well - how little I used to.

So, I'm grateful... and I've bought my tix to the SF game at The Coliseum. Gonna be a fun year!!

Go Rams!
