Admittedly I did not watch the game last night but the Pats only attempted three passes and won? How is that even possible in the modern NFL? I know their defense is balling out this year but holy hell….I can’t imagine this has been done before or at least not since those dudes with leather helmets played (maybe).

It was extremely windy and any pass was being pushed at minimum a foot in any direction

Still nuts imo I understand it’s difficult to pass in weather conditions but to only attempt 3? Hell the Bills threw it 30 times
Yeah and Josh Allen only completed 15 of 30 passes - way below par for them and they have a sub par running game
They are forced to throw with Josh - even in that weather

Yeah I mean the point was not that Josh Allen played well. There have been plenty of windy games, snowy games, rainy games but as far as my quick research has indicated this is the fewest passing attempts since the game looked like this:

Did you see the chip shot Bills kick in the 4th? It looked like an easy 3 and it went right if the posts with the wind.
They played in leather helmets with no facemasks.
And both teams wore brown uniforms.
Oh, and there was a wooly mammoth on the sidelines.
That was the day when the game was good
During warmups, there was a kick that went towards the goalposts, nearly went through, and then flew backwards towards the kicker.
Belicheat knew that his weak armed QB couldn't throw the ball past 5 yards in that wind.
Josh Allen could at least throw the ball 20 yards in that wind lol

I remember the Ravens played the Pat's in the playoffs, I think it was the year before their superbowl run,, but Flacco basically threw it 5 or 6 times, and the rest was all Ray Rice. Blew out the pats with their ground game.
What I don't understand is wh the Bills didn't stack the box and stuff the run with the defense they have?
the bills play a nickel defense like 90% of the time - im sure that was part of the reason for the patriots strat.

They do. It's called hard headed coaching. We've all seen it
They hit on a 50 plus yd TD run early, went for two, got it. And from there on in they didn't want to take a chance on a turnover. They also played 6 OL on a high % of snaps and just ran it down their throats. And it was smart. Do what is needed to win and don't worry about style points.
I know someone who could learn from that in terms of not worrying about style points.
Reminds me of the 99' NFCCG. Vermeil said before that game that they couldn't get careless and allow Tampa's D to beat them with mistakes. They almost did anyway with s couple of picks, but Martz did keep it closer to the vest than normal...and Tampa's offense simply couldn't score.

I didn't see the game I just can't imagine staying in nickel with 6 OL on the field against a team that is LITERALLY running every single play. That's beyond hard-headed if that's how it actually played out. Though I doubt they actually ran nickel in 91% of the snaps in this game. They had to have stacked the box at some point no? (serious question I didn't see it.)

I get the premise but this is extreme....it's not been done in the modern era to this extent regardless of the weather. Though I guess it shouldn't surprise me BB is known for bucking the trend.
If they can manhandle a good team to this extent and essentially tip their hand every play and still be successful...that certainly should send a message to the rest of the NFL. No team should want any part of them come playoffs when it's colder and against that D.
