I didn't see the game I just can't imagine staying in nickel with 6 OL on the field against a team that is LITERALLY running every single play. That's beyond hard-headed if that's how it actually played out. Though I doubt they actually ran nickel in 91% of the snaps in this game. They had to have stacked the box at some point no? (serious question I didn't see it.)
The Bills did not play much Nickel. Mostly, 4 DL and 3 LBs. However, it was suggested by the announcers that perhaps they should add a 5th DL. If Buffalo did, it was not very often.

At various times, New England used a FB, two TEs and even a 6th OL. Even their WRs were often lined up tight to the O-Line. I think they attempted one pass to a WR.

Perhaps the Bills should have adjusted and played more of a 5-3-3, with two safeties and just one CB.

I get the premise but this is extreme....it's not been done in the modern era to this extent regardless of the weather. Though I guess it shouldn't surprise me BB is known for bucking the trend.

If they can manhandle a good team to this extent and essentially tip their hand every play and still be successful...that certainly should send a message to the rest of the NFL. No team should want any part of them come playoffs when it's colder and against that D.

I am glad you put this post up @NJRamsFan as I didn't see the game either. THAT is a crazy stat... 3 passes?

Yeah... Screw style points.

BB knows how to draw up a game plan. He is in your head too. I bet other coaches won't admit that. Dude is Yoda is some ways.

If he cheated at any point along the way, fans really should blame the NFL. BB is doing what he can get away with. That's on the league.

Who here would dislike McVay if he always pushed things to the rules edge?

And that defense is for real.

It was another outstanding coaching effort by Belichick in my opinion.

Hate the guy but he’s an all-time great football coach in my opinion.

Yep it was a Belichick special. Dumb down the opposing (passing) offense and dare them to run the ball. Get some timely breaks, ref calls, and fuckups by the opponent. He's been doing this shit for 30+ years even longer with his time as Parcells' DC.

Guys like him are why you need balance in the playoffs. But gotta say the Bills QB got let down by his WRs too though. That dropped TD was a dime. In that wind, pretty amazing.

The Bills coaching staff should be embarrassed.

There is no way that a team should be able to run the ball that much, all night, and see such high yards per carry up until the final whistle. Especially considering the players that the Bills have on that defence. The Patriots don't even have an elite RB, although their backs are strong, to be sure.

Make some adjustments and FORCE Mac Jones to complete a throw or two.

I know that the conditions were extremely windy. It's not the first extremely windy game we have seen in recent memory. And it will not be the last.

Last night's game looked like something from several generations ago. Cold weather will always see running take priority. But that was unbelievable.

When I hear 3 passes, can't help but agree with this.

Thanks for sharing this I knew there was no way they just sat in nickel and let it happen.

That being said…they should’ve ran fucking goal line defense at some point You can’t just let a team literally run every play and get away with it ..:that shouldn’t work

I’m probably in the minority here (just like with me liking Rodgers and Brady) but I don’t have anything against BB or the Pats in fact I have a TON of admiration for BB as he is truly an all time great .

I look at it this way….every team in the league is looking for advantages and pushing the rules to their limit/looking for loopholes etc…the likelihood that the Pats were the only team to cheat in that span is slim to none and doesn’t take anything away from their accomplishments in my opinion. Winning that many super bowls in that span is damn near impossible regardless if the balls are deflated or whatever else they did. Credit where credit is due.

He cheated and I will always hate Belicheat Brady and the Patriots for as long as that owner and Belicheat are around.

And right now I hate Tampa Bay because of Brady

That’s your prerogative but don’t forget to also appreciate greatness.

The Pats may not have an "elite" RB, but if you actually watch that game, their RB's looked far better than Michel which is why he was traded to us. I'm not saying Michel is bad, but he's not nearly as explosive. Henderson has some good traits but man, I wish we had Akers all this year. That's what I took from last night's game

Boo greatness

I only appreciate greatness if they don't cheat.

Manning Marino Elway Favre Montana Young will always be better QBs in my mind than Brady because he was on a cheating team.

I hate the Cheatriots, I hate Bellicheat, I hate Bitchy Brady, I hate Kraft, I hate the whole fucking team. Fuck them and their supposed "greatness". The only thing they managed to do was cheat their way to Super Bowls. I will never give that team credit.

they may have cheated against us in 2001 but in 2018 they beat us fair and square whether we like to admit that or not

Bills presumably made a strategic and not irrational choice to force and defend the run. Belichek called them on it, play after play, all night, and won.

Had they stacked the box instead he might have thrown more passes. And still won.

That's one reason why he's a great coach. Belichick has always been able to adapt and vary his game strategies, including on offense. No one but him would have called the Bills' hand with 42 runs, 3 passes, and made them pay.

Of course the Pats won with their D. That's the most important reason why Belichek is a great coach.

I didn't notice if they had nickel personnel, I just noticed they had 9 in the box and still the Pats ran over them for big chunks.

How do you know that? they just got caught taping the Bengals... was it 2018 or 19? My point is how do you trust a cheater isn't cheating? Cause he wasn't caught. He would have never been caught if he wasn't going to play his ex assistant. All along his career Belicheat is looking for loop holes. He never really paid for his cheating and never admitted to it. If they took his SBs away or suspended him or said the Pats can't play in the playoffs for 5 years or something with teeth, he might have stopped, but He still cheats. It is in his DNA. He cheats even when he doesn't have to to win.

Yeah I mean the point was not that Josh Allen played well. There have been plenty of windy games, snowy games, rainy games but as far as my quick research has indicated this is the fewest passing attempts since the game looked like this:

With the way the NFL has changed in the last decade it’s even more crazy to consider

The fact that NE used 6 OL helped as well.
