The Bills did not play much Nickel. Mostly, 4 DL and 3 LBs. However, it was suggested by the announcers that perhaps they should add a 5th DL. If Buffalo did, it was not very often.I didn't see the game I just can't imagine staying in nickel with 6 OL on the field against a team that is LITERALLY running every single play. That's beyond hard-headed if that's how it actually played out. Though I doubt they actually ran nickel in 91% of the snaps in this game. They had to have stacked the box at some point no? (serious question I didn't see it.)
At various times, New England used a FB, two TEs and even a 6th OL. Even their WRs were often lined up tight to the O-Line. I think they attempted one pass to a WR.
Perhaps the Bills should have adjusted and played more of a 5-3-3, with two safeties and just one CB.
