The more you watch this guy the more you have to wonder... would he be considered a Davante Adams type talent if he had been in a different environment?

Hard to say, but like Stafford or Kupp he seems poised to explode if surrounded by the right people in the right scheme.

That could just be me buying the hype with the homer glasses on. If I'm right though, I'm glad he signed a 3 year contract and not a 1 year prove-it deal because we could've just gotten a major, major long term discount.

I think this kind of divining goes back to the superbowl and we could not run the ball for snot … at one point mcvay said “fuck it I’m not running anymore “

Now as things stand we can line up with kupp Robinson woods higbee van (potentially obj ) plus any other signing draft picks who the fuck do you cover as a D with that wr corps

Here’s the all-important thing about the AR signing.

Allen Robinson and Matthew Stafford are absolutely PERFECT for each other. This is a match made in heaven schematically. Let that sink in for a moment.

Just as Kupp and Stafford are PERFECT for each other. Now the Rams have 2 such amazing combos.

Can’t wait for September.

As an aside, if Harris stays healthy then the sky’s the limit on this kid, too. Won’t be fair to see him matched up against a 3rd or 4th CB. Goodness.

Hot damn! Robinson is a freaking STUD! Wow!

Van Jefferson feels like the guy who should be nervous, as the most trade-able player.

But, I also think Jeff’ has been better than some give credit. I don’t want to lose him.
I love Jeff, and I hate him.
He's gotta be more aggressive, and go get those jump balls. He seems unsure at times in these situations.
Robinson, much like OBJ, takes what is his when it comes to contested balls.

Further proof that the guy can't do right by people. He rights a tweet to his son about being the best he can be and he's called selfish and gets shit on.

Agree.

I have no issue what OBj tweeted. Probably being looked into way to much by most. Probably also means having stronger competition with the addition of Allen Robinson motivates him even more to be the best he can be.

I see nothing wrong.

When talking about Van Jefferson, people discount the difficulty in playing new positions in the NFL. X, Y, Z all have nuances to their route trees that must be mastered. When Woods went down Van was thrust into playing Robert's role. IMO he did it well. Getting over 800 yards in a season is nothing to discount. Now add in a new QB and things are subtly different again.

With the acquisition of OBJ the situation stabilized once again. Before the season people asked who was the deep threat, as they simply discounted Jefferson's ability to get deep. For most of the season, he was the Ram's deep threat. He was a second year player who became a starter and delivered. He's young and still developing. Defenses discount him at their peril.

Robert Woods for the first 5 years of his career never broke 800 yards in the season. Robert Woods only recorded 6 TDs in two seasons of his career. Woods is the definition of a possession WR. Van Jefferson produced more yards and TDs in his second year than Robert Woods has in the bulk of his career. Woods will be 30 this year. So who would they trade? The Rams want to build the team not tear it apart. This year the Rams potentially can have 3 WRs producing over 1000 yds each. If they stay healthy, Kupp, Robinson and Jefferson can be as good as any 3 WRs on a team as any in the NFL.

When you break down Robinson's role in Chicago he's very comparable to Woods. Many compare him to being a Jordy Nelson kind of player.

RE OBJ tweet he saw the money and commitment the Rams made to Robinson and IMO that was the motivation he was alluding to.

It will be interesting to see just how productive he can be. I don't see him as an Adams type, Robinson seldom catches over the shoulders and racks up YAC. Adams is very good at this. Robinson is very often turned and facing the QB, he is masterful at positioning his body in such a way that he dramatically increases his completion percentage at the cost of YAC. What may change is once he develops that relationship with Matt, we tend to design plays where receivers can catch and run in space. As it sits if you watch tape on Robinson you will be surprised how seldom he sets up for yac and greatly favors the completion. Less than average teams and QBs may be the cause. Even with these traits, he is a stud ala OBJ in the red zone fade game which paid dividends for us.

Plus, can you see Woody opening that second level for Robinson with a block? MAGIC!
I could!
But I could also see Jefferson or Skow make that block.

We'll see.
Again... I'm not giving Robert Woods away.

So we threw our Comp formula out the window & Jefferson becomes trade bait ?
This works for me considering we are trying to Repeat, Snead's Comp formula can afford to take a rest for one season.

"According to Nick Korte of Over The Cap, Robinson cancels out the Rams’ highest compensatory pick, which is a fifth-rounder for losing Von Miller to the Bills. The Rams are still projected to receive the maximum of four compensatory picks, though".

It would be nice if somehow we could keep our round 2 pick for 2023. Purely selfishness on my part there too, as I detest waiting for late round 3 for the Rams to pick. Plus then Snead's gonna fucking trade down too. :laugh4:

They get the best value out of their first round picks without selecting in the draft and do great with the 2nd round down picks. So they lose the 5th rounder they were going to get for Miller. It certainly wasn't good value just getting a 5th for him so they turned it into Allen Robinson? How do they figure this shit out? They are waaaaay ahead of the curve.

Meanwhile, Seattle trades 2 firsts to get Jamal Adams and recoup those by trading Russell Wilson? What-a-move!!!! So basically they traded Russell Wilson for Adams and a few lower picks. Is it any wonder they haven't won a SB since 2013?

Wood is gone dude. He lost a step it was obvious last yr, he's not fast enough to fulfill our need for speed role. This signing is curtains for Woods. His cap hit is too big anyway and he probably doesn't return for the start of the season.

Also all the hate in Van is confusing. He barely played his rookie yr then made strides in yr 2. We can hope he'll continue to progress into a solid WR in yr 3. He was a second yr WR, so yeah he made some mistakes. How long did it take Bruce, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, etc. to start producing?

And i feel for OBJ, if he doesn't get hurt this contract would be his instead of ARobs.

It actually worked out well timing wise for Robinson with our comp picks - highest only being a 5th this year instead of a 3rd. Plus having an extra gone so it’s not lost completely. So Dropping only two rounds. I’m sure this helped in their thought process for going after him.

Well now that you mention it, Bruce only had 1781 receiving yards and 13 TDs in his second year with Joe Schmuckatelli and Rick Witless throwing the ball.

Wayne and Harrison are more comparable to Jefferson in the second year though, so fair point.
