Hey @Synthetic you are most welcome here. Stick around and talk NFL stuff with us. You have a home here.

There you go. I use FL Studio 20, Nexus 2, EZ Drummer 2, a Korg M1 plugin, and a long list of other software. I have a 62 Gibson 12-string, a Les Paul copy, a crappy Chinese bass, and an old Yamaha synth. I'm an old guy so I tend to listen to, write and record mostly in the genres of classic rock, and prog rock. Music brings us all together no matter what team we root for or at least it should.

Thanks for the kind words, I play music too.

I use a Fender Mustang digital modelling amp that I got dirt cheap for 200 dollars a few years ago (definitely worth the price if you are on a budget and can't shell out serious cash for the big stuff). I use that for recording and sessions when I go jam with some friends. I mainly run a clean channel of the Twin Reverb and Deluxe Reverb along with a tubescreamer pedal for slight distortion and some extra effects with reverb and delay to give it a little bit of juice. It had some really neat distortion channels that are worth using for heavier style playing.

My two main guitars are a 2013 Mexican Fender Strat and an older Gibson Les Paul Studio that I've slowly been putting a bit of work into (upgrading pickups, tuners and fixing up the pots). My Mexican Fender has been a great guitar, really worth every penny as I couldn't afford a more expensive model at the time. It still has the same stock ceramic pickups which I strangely fell in love with. They are twangy and bright, but have a good mid-range which works perfectly for doing Classic Rock and 80's Pop stuff.

FL Studio is nice. I really need to get a new synth station but I don't have the money right now. Every time I have had the money, I end up sinking more into my Les Paul and upgrading it. The Les Paul has been useful for playing leads/solos and heavy rock.

No, some journalists and media types brought it up to get "clicks" but nothing from the actual NFL has mentioned anything of it. There is a rule regarding restarting a game but I don't think that what happened truly fits the language in the rule. I also heard that it would've had to be restarted immediately, if not it causes a lot of logistical problems.

I think it was a good no call. The defender had no idea where the ball was and they both ran into each other.

Hey I just want to clear up my post was meant to be a joke (all be it a little crass) to make the guys here laugh, it wasn't in response to El caliente and I didn't mean anything towards him personally, I'm sorry
No need to be sorry. This is a Rams board. If opposing fans want to come on here and discuss the game, they are welcome to do so. But there should be no expectation that they will be able to come on here and bitch and whine without our membership making fun of them and.... yes.... calling them bitches.

To all the Aints fans that may be members or just lurking. Whine and bitch away. Do it somewhere else - like in front of a judge that will be laughing his ass off at you.

Reaper is a fine DAW and costs around $60.00 for a private license. It has a much lower learning curve than FL Studio. I couldn't afford to get the Les Paul I wanted so I did some research and ended up buying an Agile from a company called Rondo.

https://www.rondomusic.com/cgi-rondomusic/sb/productsearch.cgi?storeid=*0c1421a8d614cc26

Thank you for recommending Reaper, I will check that out this weekend when I have time.

Agile Les Pauls are great. They get solid reviews all around and are worth more than shelling out the ludicrous amounts of money for a Gibson. A friend of mine bought two and I've played around with them. Gibson's guitars are overpriced to the point that it's offensive. Not many people out there can shell out over 2 or 3 grand for a Les Paul. Not only are they overpriced, they generally aren't worth it either.

My Les Paul Studio was a gift to me that a family member paid a fortune for and I nearly traded it because brand new the guitar had so many issues. It had a poor factory set up with bad pickup placement, the pots were scratchy and the fretwork needed some polishing. Hard to believe this was a brand new guitar out the box and was so poorly set up. The one saving grace was that it had a wonderful neck in the "Fat 58" style. It's a round, chunky thick neck that is a joy to play. The guitar also had a weight relief body which was another saving grace to it, not as heavy as older Pauls. I slowly had it worked on it and am still doing upgrades. The pickups in it were dull sounding and I replaced them once with some DiMarzios (Super Distortion in the bridge, BluesBreaker in the neck position). I'm thinking about changing the pickups one last time to a set of vintage style AlNiCo Gibson 1958 or 1959 set.

The best guitar I've had for my money is still my Mexican built Fender Strat. At the time, they were still going for 500 dollars (now they are over $677 for the 'Player Series' that replaced it). It's still stock and haven't done any upgrades at all cause it didn't need any work. I only wish Fender had made more colors available for the Mexican Standard line (Hard to find affordable Strats in fiesta red, burgundy mist and surf green) cause I would've definitely bought a second one before they replaced it with the new Player Series Strats.

Sorry for the thread hijack folks but this is more fun than what's been going on here lately.

On my son's 16th birthday I told him I would buy him any guitar he wanted. I was hoping he would go for the Mexican made Strat but he chose the American made Strat instead, a difference of about $500.00 more. My wife had a cow, lol. Btw he's a Redskins fan. :poop:

It will probably take you a few weeks to get registration approved. Their mod team is big and some of them handle different roles on the board. The forum has generally changed over the years from back when I first joined with some former mods whom were ousted during the 7-9 years. I found out that some of them went to the BlackandGold forum, which is where we all end up for criticizing the team. (BAG posters aren't blind homers and will call out the team and criticize them, but unfortunately that forum isn't exactly big like SR).

That forum is fun, but they get really ban-happy if you want to have a rational discussion about the team from an objective standpoint that may criticize coach Payton and the team in general. I was one of the few posters after Sunday who wanted to talk about things we did wrong in that game and my ban didn't happen until someone implied I was getting paid by Roger Goodell to make my posts criticizing Payton's play calling and after I posted some stats about how bad the offense has played since week 11, I got the ban hammer.

Throughout all of this is the fact that Asshole Face made bad coaching decisions. He screwed up not running the ball. Then he throws a fit the refs didn't bail him out. Which deflects the attention away from his poor coaching job and the Fact the Rams outplayed them. 24 year old Goff outplayed their 40 year old future Hall of Famer.

Saints fans haven't even considered Payton screwed them over more than the refs. And now he's their hero. He'll be back next season. His team will be in the playoffs again. And they will get outplayed and outcoached by someone again. Saints fans love their coach and consider him a martyr. Enjoy the playoff disappointments Saints fans. Plenty more to come. Payton's arrogance will keep you on board. Its always someone else's fault.

Geez, sorry for having to spend that much money on a guitar. This stuff adds up after a while, it isn't cheap.

The new Player Series Strats that replaced the Mexican Standard line are little more than reissues of the original American Strats. I'm not a fan of them. I tried a few in a store recently and the new AlNiCo pickups are so weak compared to the old ceramics they put in the Mexican Standards. AlNiCo pickups are great, but there is something about the Player Series ones that are lacking a real punch. They are thin sounding and generally missing that mid-range that the ceramics have. I've played some Squiers with AlNiCo pickups that had better sounds than the Fender Player.

There was nothing wrong with the Mexican Strats, I don't know why Fender ditched them for a reissue of the American Strats. The new Player Series guitars aren't as mod-friendly since they have the 2 screw bridge and the wiring for the pickups and pots is different compared to traditional Strat style, so that is something people have to keep in mind with tweaking and doing work on them.

Squier makes decent Strats these days if you don't mind buying cheap ones. Check out the Classic Vibe 50's and 60's guitars. The Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster is the best guitar Squier makes. That guitar sounds so amazing, it's often mistaken to be an American built Fender. You can never go wrong with that one.

The best Strat I've seen in stores over the past year is Squier's Contemporary HH Strats. They come with double humbuckers and a painted headstock with a beautiful white color or red, giving them a sorta retro 1980's look. The neck radius is 12" and it has 22 frets, so it's perfect for soloing and doing power chords. The white ones have a black pickguard and look sorta like the guitar Jake E Lee played when he was in Ozzy Osbourne's band (Bark at the moon). Those are ideal cheap guitars for doing Hard Rock and Heavy Metal styles.

Sorry to completely change the topic of this thread. This is more fun though than thinking about that loss!

I am one of the few Saints fans who has talked about Payton's bad play calling.

He didn't want to run the ball last week against the Eagles. The first play of that game was a deep throw that ended up being intercepted. Brees has not been playing well for the past month. As I previously posted, his TD/INT ratio was 29-2 for the first 10 weeks of the season. It tanked down to 7-5 and his QBR which was once over 130, the highest in the league tanked down to 88 for the end of the year. Something went really wrong with this offense and Brees went from looking like an ageless MVP QB to looking his age of 39-40 years old.

Payton didn't want to run the ball in either playoff game. If you look in the stats of the divisional playoff game, the defense thoroughly dominated Philly that night. They held them to below 90 yards in 3 quarters after being down 14-0 early. Meanwhile the offense piddled around with their heads in the sand by nearly turning the ball over a bunch more times, getting stupid penalties and punting it away.

Payton's bad decision at the end of that game to go for a field goal out of Lutz's range gave the Eagles another shot to win. If the offense had woke up and did their jobs, that would've been a blow out with how well the defense played.

This is not the first time Payton was out-coached in a playoff loss. He was almost out-coached last week by Doug Pedersen despite his team getting shut down for 3 quarters. I sometimes do have to wonder with Payton cause we have to worry about him getting out-coached like in 2011 vs Harbaugh or both times against Seattle, or if not that, we have to worry about him doing something incredibly stupid (his SKOL clap at the end of the Vikings game).

It's beyond embarrassing at this point when a US Congressman wants an investigation into this game.

Please. I think re-opening the government should be more important than this. There are federal workers who could definitely use pay checks to put food on the table for their families.

Was it me or did it seem like he was more focused on complaining than coaching the rest the game after that moment? I suppose he's done a good job deflecting his mistakes onto the refs mistakes. Most Saints fans aren't complaining about his decision to throw instead of run. When they threw that first pass that was low to Thomas I thought "We got a break there. Even if they run it now we have two timeouts to stop the clock and give us time to try and get our own FG".

You guys might not have known about Greg Zuerline, but us Rams fans know there's reason his nickname is "Greg the Leg" or "Legatron". Anywhere inside the 50 is within his range. Especially indoors. That last one woulda made ten more yards.

Most saints fans are too busy trying to convince the world that it was all a conspiracy. Admitting that Payton is the #1 reason they lost, is beyond their view. They cannot see what those in the real world saw. Payton's arrogance and desire to prove he is smarter than the 30 NFL coaches that would have run the ball, is to logical of a thought for them to comprehend.

Is it true the NFL might make the two teams replay the last 2 minutes? That's what a couple coworkers of mine had said. I hope not.

Yes!

You mean you missed it this morning? The Rams scored 4 TDs in the last 2 mins, it was awesome!

The Saints owners have submitted their letters to the NFL office questioning every play, and the non-calls on each.

A cuople of coworkers of mine say the game will be replayed again sometime this weekend, so stay tuned!

I could be wrong on Payton's personality etc, but I noticed a few things about him over the games I have seen him on the side lines.

He gets that smirk and then immediately tries to impose his will on the game. Now he is often successful when he does this and the Saints score or run all over someone, but other times it fails because he fixates so much on "How" he wins the game instead of, "Just Do it!".

Against the Rams on that last possession, you could see the smirk and he wanted to ram it down LA's throat with a score and NOT a FG. I think Asshole Face's desire to score 7 there is what resulted in the loss, (well....AND the horrible No call!).

If the call had been made, I would bet Payton would have gone for the throat immediately, (or the Rams would let them score to save time). That change would have meant the Rams would have needed 7 points to tie it up instead of 3 and probably 10 to 15 seconds less. Payton didn't seem concerned with draining the clock.

Maybe.....:)

Welcome to ROD, hope you have a long and enjoyable visit with us. We aren’t a bad bunch and aside from your coach really don’t hate your team in spite of what you may have read here.

You’ll have to forgive us we’ve spent a long time as a joke in the nfl. Then when we finally get good we are constantly bombarded with negativity from opposing fans. We hear every week from our opponents fans, some of them I don’t want to lump you in with them, how bad or mediocre our players and coaches are. We’re a little defensive from all the negativity and that went into overdrive on Sunday . For the most part opposing fans are welcome here and have a good time. We have a couple from other teams that have participated for years and are family, as long as they wash those ugly uniforms regularly :sneaky:

Side note that linebacking group with Sam Mills and company may be my favorite position group ever to not be Rams. So long story short welcome aboard and look forward to chatting.

Thank you for the kind words. Our coach isn't really that bad of a person, he does however show a lot of emotion. That sometimes does not sit well with opposing teams. He can be a jerk, but Saints fans love him, mostly because he is the coach that brought us to the Super Bowl.

Saints fans understand being the joke of the NFL. I remember seasons that were 3-13 instead of 13-3 many years just getting to .500 was a winning season for us. Saints fans endured 40 years of losing seasons before our owners finally decided to fully invest in the team after hurricane Katrina. When it finally happened we were drug down by the bounty gate thing.

Thank You and welcome.
I spent a couple months in NOLA from Feb - Apr and love the city. Garden Dist/Warehouse dist St Charles and tchoupitoulas. I miss the food and the proximity to all kinds of fun. Magazine street was one of my Fav's
I hired many locals from the area and made friendships that I will always have. What RODies may or may not be aware of is just how passionate and resilient the fans and people from NOLA are. As with all socially polarizing events you will have percentage that just goes beyond what most deem as tolerable. NOLA is a city everyone should see and for So Cal's it is such a different culture.
Hang around here shoot the crap support your team have discussions with other real football fans and don't hold back when it come to Football talk.
This Forum is really based on a couple simple rules that should be pretty easy to deal with. Don't make personal assaults and don't be a but.
You have a great team
Have Fun!

Glad you enjoyed your visit to New Orleans. I am a contractor and do a lot of work around the Garden District. It is one of my favorite parts of the city. I have yet to make it to the West Coast, my niece lives in So. Cal (not sure where exactly) She loves it there. May have to visit my niece someday.
