Curiouser and curiouser.

I don't profess to know either way but Cam has not been the same guy, so maybe something is weighing on him and if that's the case I wish him the best in getting through it.

If not and re: Josina I don't care for her as an insider as I suspect she has no real connections around the league but she occasionally gets real tips direct from players. So it's possible she knows something. And re: Jourdan she gets fed her nuggets from the Rams so it would make sense she isn't tracking on it. If I had to say right now I'd weigh on the side of Josina having this right.

With coach speak and GM speak knowing and talking with players is better imo. I don't care for her but she does know people especially players.

If a player just abandons his team I don't believe the team is required to pay him for time missed, but if this is a football related issue for his absence, then he gets paid. I don't know any more than the rest of you on Akers' situation, but you can bet which way his agent is seeing things. jmo.

I'm sorry folks but this has to be the first time that I've seen in a while that one of the Rams *star* players being out might actually HELP the team.

Actually, someone just needs to explain to Akers that this is not college football anymore.

I like Jacobs. A tough, slashing type runner. More quick than fast. Wouldn't mind trading for him. Raiders declined his 5th year option so he'll be a free agent next year. Not sure what it would take to get him though.
Jacobs is the hottest RB in the NFL right now so there would be teams lining up. I see a hidden gem like D’Earnest Johnson as a more attainable trade candidate.

I've always liked Jacobs but he's another type of back that McVay doesn't prefer. McVay wants athleticism and threat in space.

This is why he let Michel roll out for peanuts.

His patient running style is not a good fit now with a sub par beat up OL. Now you need a guy that can run down hill and hit any hole ASAP. Better to gain 2 than lose 3. Akers waits for an opening like Levon Bell...and that's fine if you have a great OL opening up big holes.
Good point as well as his confidence being low at this point just don’t add up to success.

What is with this team with what seem to be explosive Running Backs that quickly fizzle. (Gurley and Akers)

Injuries may be the thing but still.

CMC is more then a pipe dream fellas. His cap hit is nearly 9m this season and a WHOPPING 19.5 for the next 2 years. Zero. Percent. Chance. Even if we could afford it, paying RB's (especially injury prone ones) is a very bad idea. I do love the Gibson talk, honestly think he'd be perfect in our offense. Big, fast guy that was a WR in college? Sign me up. Otherwise, our slim trade resources are needed to bring in someone that can actually block for more then a millisecond.
Looking at SportTrac, it looks like his salary for this year is only $1M and around $11M next year. The Panthers are on the hook for most of his cap hit.

Yes $1m this year and $12/12/12.2 the remaining three years of his deal (with a 200k workout bonus each year)

I get the feeling this is some internal arguments with Cam and the coaches. Maybe them harping on him missing holes, going down too easily, lack of PP blocking, etc. With him fighting back arguing the lack of OL holes, etc. Probably frustration on his side but you can’t do that kind of thing. Just a total guess.

To anyone who's thinking we should go get CMC, can we just put that one to bed? A team that has had bad luck with RB injuries should not be tempting fate by trading for a RB with an extensive injury history.

He'd fit right in! And yeah I'm with you don't want to touch him.
