I'd say that speculation is unnecessary and the trying to trade him premature and incorrect based off what McVay has said. It's not football related which would in my mind eliminate attitude. As McVay said let the situation play out and we'll get more information. Out of respect for the player but we know there's little of that around here for Akers or anybody else that's in the fans dog house.
Disagree because there’s information out there…. Attitude would fit perfectly in the space McVay left.
His actual performance on the field is not why he’s not playing is how I read that.

After hearing he doesn't like to practice and he's straight up missing holes and assignments. This might be a timeout for the player. Not sure just an option

My whole issue is such a short time after everybody around here was concerned about Tua's health and mental well being after the concussions people are jumping to conclusions about Akers and his well being. We know it's not play related or McVay wouldn't have kept running him out there remember Hendo and Brown had no carries last week. If Akers performance was an issue this isn't how that game plays out. Hendo had more snaps than Akers but didn't run the ball that really doesn't sound like a coach that's tired of Akers on the field.

When we don't know what the issue is I just find it very shitty people are trying to trade him and celebrating getting rid of him potentially instead of thinking about the player especially as I said so soon after all the concussion issues and worrying about players. When it's Akers right while we have a 5 or 6 page thread about people shitting on the guy on the field we're treating him like this. Let the situation play out all this speculation just doesn't sit well.

I don’t entirely disagree.

However.
We've heard "coach speak" from McVay before. This seems to be more of the same.

The one thing we have learned from this regime......where there's smoke, there's fire.

I don’t think this is due to a potential trade. His trade value right now would be virtually zero.
I would agree with this. We're definitely not gonna get a starting caliber lineman out of a trade for Akers. We'd be lucky to get a late day 3 pick. No one's gonna trade a starting lineman for that. Maybe a decent backup caliber? But I might be a little too optimistic on that.

"declined to say whether he believes Akers will be a part of the team in the future"

Oof sounds like Goff.

Looking forward to what Williams can bring but man that dude keeps getting hurt too.

Yeah, it sounded very much like the whole "he's our QB right now" thing. Definitely an ominous sign for his future in horns.

If we are going to trade for a RB, then Damian Harris is the guy. He is in a contract year, and I believe NE will be trading him and they have been a trade partner with us. He has a hammy issue right now but if not bad then I would want him especially with the bye coming up.

I appreciate that your coming from a place of concern for the player. I respect that.

I just happen to think that the issues here aren't about physical or mental health, but are about relationships in the locker room and Akers approach.

I'll refer to Jourdan's description of Akers returning to practice the same day Henderson came back.. she's referred to it more than once and she doesn't do that kind of thing unless there's something actually there.

There was this..

I've been a HUGE Akers fan.. and I have nothing but good will toward him.. but if it's not working, it's not working. When I saw him out yesterday for personal reasons.. .I had a feeling and was anxious to hear if he was at practice today.

It's a professional sport.. they need a player at the position he plays who is effective. I'm not willing him ill, I'm willing my team better.

Maybe I read this wrong.

My only point that he could have some value in bringing in an asset.

I don't think he was taken out because they have some kind of great deal on the table for him.

The problem is, we have no idea what's going on. Could be something personal that is not team related. Could be he hasn't had his head in the game and McVay is fed up. Could be he's not happy about something. All anyone's doing right now is speculating.

If we want to speculate he won't be a Ram for long, the we start to look at the possibilities as far as what his value is. I don't think he has much trade value if any right now. He's nowhere near the same runner he was his rookie season.

If he's not going to be with the team much longer we need to look at what the replacement will be. Not many options. I'm glad we picked up Brown. He does know the system. I don't know about any untested rookies like Williams or Rivers. Of if Williams is even healthy enough.

This was the quote that had me interested.... Uncharted territories???

“I would say it’s more like we’re dealing with things internally. I don’t know, exactly…these are kind of uncharted territories,” McVay said. “Out of respect for the situation, I want to keep it internal. You guys will have more information later on.”

I'm not sure where the notion that people are disrespectimg Akers is coming from. We are all speculating based on how McVay responded to why Akers wasn't available. It sounds like Akers may be gone so people are naturally going to start thinking of who can replace him. I'm sure all of us hopes he is mentally ok.

Maybe we can shoot for Patrick Taylor? He is at the bottom of GBs RBs depth. We need a hard runner? He might just be what we are looking for… Whatever is going on with Akers is unknown, but if we are indeed trying to find a replacement he may be an option.

Not anymore, the league changed it you can't trade a conditional pick like we used to. Have to wait until the pick is rewarded to trade it.
Hmm...thanks. didn't know that. In a way that might protect us from trading away a lot of picks when we will need them next yr.

Being that Akers was a 2020 2'nd round draft pick, I'm guessing that Detroit's Brad Holmes had some say in the matter when he was here, and since Detroit doesn't appear to be going anywhere this year, I wonder if he might have some interest ?

Aw cripes. Too little info to speculate.

McVay understands the Rams a million times better than we fans do... but man I wish he'd listened to us about keeping Sony Michel.
