As I say, love Jake’s dedication and obvious passion for da Rams. Just think Jake could learn a thing or two from a vet reporter like Vinny Bonsignore. Here’s the texts of two tweets from Jake and Vinny, both on Aug. 13:

I like Jake's tweet better. He states, "expected to". That is not a guarantee it will happen. I take it as info he's heard from a reliable source.

I guess the question is how many reliable sources were there during this whole saga? Plenty of people work for the Rams who weren't in a position to know the particulars and could only pass on second hand information and office gossip.

Demoff hasn't worked a contract with the Rams where the AAV and guaranteed money were leaked to the media before the deal was done. That was a red flag. Jake's source was unwilling to put his name behind it. That was another.

i don't understand why some people here expect @jakebogen95 to predict 100% what's gonna happen. he's only passing along what he's been told. some of the reactions in here man, weird.

what journalist predicts anything 100%? they all pass what their sources tell them or make crap up. why is jake being held to a higher standard?

Some people are put off because it seems like he threw a dart at the wall based on tea leaves. And it honestly seems like he did .He waited until the exact day of the pft report to break his news and he was the only one with that information? What a coincidence , you know ? Not to mention that he wasn't the only one .PFT made a bogus rumor and "reporters" started sharing their knowledge about how Donald could be signed before the Texans game. I mean Jason la canfora said something about a press conference being set up (LMAO) .So some fans are frustrated that some reporters seem to be just guessing.

Well..HC's have to be liars at certain points of the year....Like just prior to the draft, and if/when someone asks you about a matter that you don't want in the press yet..such as "that's news to us." lol

That's true, but if he was "expected" to sign 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't happened then it sounds like BS. No one knows for sure of course. Not to mention, many reporters will use "expected to" and similar language for the plausible deniability

I expect Donald to sign before December 31st, 2018.

I continue to question the validity of the source because at the time of the original announcement:

a) I don't think Donald would ever entertain an offer that was not MORE than $70m guaranteed - it makes sense that he wants and deserves the most guaranteed $$$ of any defensive player
b) I don't think the Rams would ever want to pay $24m/year to Donald - they may end up paying close to that in the end but that would have been a last minute concession

My GUESS (and I just a rabid fan with no sources) at that time would have been $22m/year and $75m - $80m guaranteed. I will be interested in seeing which is closer to reality.
