Funny thing is, John Clayton predicts that the ending numbers will be about 20 million and 50 in guarantees .That's a much more friendly number than we all thought . Interesting
I have a hard time believing those numbers are accurate. I think the ~ 22m AYV with 80m guaranteed sounded more realistic. But who knows. If Clayton's reported numbers are accurate, I think AD gave the Rams a home team discount, and is a great value for the Rams. Hard to believe his agent would allow it, unless AD overruled him.

Well, 50 million guaranteed is double what Geno Atkins extension is at 25 million guaranteed. Geno is also averaging 16 million per year, so maybe 20 million is not that far off of a prediction.

Does anyone know, would it significantly help cap space for signing other players if Donald ends up at 50m guaranteed, 20m per year vs. a possible 80m guaranteed, 22m per year avg? Is that a big savings that could make a difference, or not so much?

Hard to believe his agent would allow it,

@Ken this is not directed at you in any way.

I have such a problem with this kind of thinking. The agent shouldn't have a say in this. It is the agents job to get as much as he can for you, which gets him more too. But if the client (in this case AD) says get it done now or I will sign at that number, then it is the agents job to do just that. Get it done. If they don't or will not, then its time to find a new agent.

I may be in the minority with this. But Aaron Rodgers is a little overrated. Great QB. But at 34 years old coming off an injury, not sure he deserves the money.

Oh he deserves the money alright, but if I were the owner, I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay it at this point.:cautious:

Very surprised that, amidst dozens of pages of handwringing, no one (unless I have missed it in all the spam) has remarked on McVay's comments last night that he is "very optimistic" about deal getting done soon and he means it as a serious statement. Lots more detail on the video. It's happening.

There were about 2 pages of posts mentioning McVays comments yesterday afternoon. Maybe more today

The two questions I have are these:

Who will be the first to post the "Aaron Donald Has Finally Signed" thread
How many of those threads will there be?

I could be wrong but I dont think the difference in guaranteed would change anything other than dead money if hes cut or traded at some point. If correct, then the only savings would be the 2m/yr difference, and while an extra 2m a year isnt going to do too much, the rams theoretically could put all 8m (assuming its a 4yr deal) into 1 year rather than 2m/yr and that could be much more beneficial

Maybe start a contest. $10,000 ROD cash for the first confirmed Donald signed post?

If I knew there was $10,000 in it, I'd check the internet 35x a day instead of the 20x I've been doing.
